Has anyone ever used one of the Drop Off Locations?

https://www.ups.com/dropoff

As far as I can see, all of the local ones to me are random newsagents and such. It seems a bit strange to drop off something somewhere like that and hope it makes it back to the destination.

I have something I need to return to Poland, and obviously want it to make it there hassle free Laughing

Not UPS but I used MyHermes (they are cheap as feck, probably for a reason) the other day and my local drop off was a random newsagents as well. I just walked in and she zapped the barcode and gave me a recept. The parcel is still in transit at the minute but yeah, I think it's much better than waiting around all day for them to collect it from your house.

We have started using the Hermes drop off at a local shop near work. Drop the parcels off (when the old woman who can't use the Hermes handheld machine has left) they scan the bar codes, scan a receipt, take your surname and ask you to sign for it.

*Fingers crossed* we have not had any issues with it yet and it is more convenient than waiting for someone to turn up and pick them all up. Bet I have bloody jinxed it now. Embarassed

hermes makes me think of a smugglers network, lol

you dont need a van to do delivery work for them, just a car, pop down to the depot in the morning and pick up a bootfull, and drop of what you dont/cant deliver later in the afternoon
thats why they are so cheap, but the delivery times can be off by a few days

i like it for the underground quality, sticking it to the bigger firms, people power

I've used UPS dropoff to return a faulty external hard drive to Amazon worth £80. It was some local, pokey little news agent, but they got it in 2 days, and I was given tracking numbers, receipts etc, all legit, can't knock it really.
