I wouldn't normally post anything like this, and I don't normally read this daily rag, but this article really pissed me off - due to the amount of biker bashing comments being left by folk.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2356716/Horrific-injuries-girl-3-left-dead-middle-road-hit-run-motorcyclists.html#comments

It is of course a despicable thing that has happened - but it doens't mean that we're all out to kill kittens!

Same old same old. Half of those 'anti-bike' comments were probably left by outraged mothers, posted from their iPhones whilst driving through rush hour traffic in their empty BMW X5.

Mum grabbed her but she fell backwards. Could it be she accidentally pushed her backwards?

The only comment needing made is that chavscum ragging around on unplated bikes bought off Gumtree without V5s or keys represent a tiny but very visible minority of bikers.

Can't say I noticed any anti-biker sentiments in the comments, the outrage was directed against some scumbags who happened to be riding motorcycles and who probably wouldn't have behaved any differently had they been on push bikes or in cars.

Haha, yeah, I did that too. My little way of saying "fuck you". Too bad the comments section is pretty basic and doesn't really allow proper replies to other comments.

But why didn't they stop? My guess is stolen bikes ridden by yobbos, not bikers.

We're all the same, apparently. I bet if you polled most of the Daily Mail readers about whether motorbikes should be banned, the results would be pretty one sided. Which is why the average Daily Mail reader is a cunt.

Daily Mail readers tarring all in a demographic with the same brush? Who'd have ever thought that would happen?

Bikers makes a change from immigrants, I suppose.

Just replace all the scums, idiots, beasts, etc with the word pikey and we'll be somewhere close, I think.

People don't like motorcyclists?

Strange that. I thought it was part of the point.

Still need to get that troll face hi-vis for filtering.

They 'came out of nowhere' apparently.

Presumably some kind of advanced teleporting system?

Because otherwise we'd presume you'd have heard three dirt bikes at speed, which tend to make a fair bit of noise?

It's a sad story. You will read one or the same every month. It's the society we live in. I have no idea what you can do about it. I'm lucky in being old and grey. I won't see what it's like in time to come.

Did you just inject a cogent material point into a rant-thread?

I dont mean to offend but it has to be said that many motorcyclists, not all, feel the need to speed..i live on a quiet long stretch of road where the speed limit is 30mph and i can here them speeding up to what must be 60 all the time..tends to go with the territory, dont care whether thats stereotyping or not,its the truth..

Not like car drivers speed. Not being sterotypical or anything but many, not all, BMW drivers are cocks. Rolling Eyes

Got bored of reading and wrote:

While this is a terrible act I have noticed the general consensus seems to be that they were riding illegal bikes, not taxed, not insured and your stereotypical tracksuit wearing hooligans. Does no one know that you can get dual purpose bikes that look like off road bikes, that are fully road legal, taxed and insured? Another fact to take into account is these bikes are not exactly quiet. To say they came out of nowhere cannot really be true as you can hear these things for miles.

Of course this terrible incident has ended up with various people saying how bikers tend to always break the speed limits, being a menace to the roads etc. Being a biker myself I can point out numerous occasions where I have been sticking to the speed limit and tailgaited or cut up by car drivers trying to exceed the limit. Its unfair to tar us all with the same brush. It would be like me saying all BMW drivers are idiots. All 4X4 drivers are jumped up posh women who only go shopping or do the school run.

There's a massive problem with your comment; it uses logic and common sense.

This is the Daily Mail we're talking about here...

I know this estate very well, I was brought up about a mile away until the age of about 10. It was rough back then, 28 years ago and has gotten worse with time.

Now lets put it I to perspective:

Rough area, very little cash, low paid jobs for those lucky/willing to have one.

Expensive dirt bikes using expensive fuel on the road without expensive insurance tax and test.

Noisy bikes(assuming they are dirt bikes) someone gets injured and almost killed.

My sympathies are with the little girl and the person who knocked the kid over is to blame and his companions should come forward and take responsibility.

Why were they doing it and also riding around for an hour after? Because the main police station for the whole of rotherham is only 2-3 miles away.

Lets assume the reason the bikes aren't plated is because they are stolen! 2-3 miles from police main station?

We have an helicopter in Sheffield, closer to that location than to my house on the north side of Sheffield. 5 mins fly time if that?

Serious lack of policing in my opinion which has allowed them to go free and allowed a feeling that they won't get caught for their crimes.

The cops will be crawling all over now, they usually are seen closing the stable door when the horse has bolted!

I do often see community officers in police vans shopping at the asda on the parson cross estate in Sheffield. They are volunteers but its the message they are sending out to the young.

20-30 years ago we were frightend of the police and never got within striking distance of them, even though we were innocent(ish) kids discovering booze and smoking.

Now kids don't care! Society has gone mad and there needs to be a major crackdown and not a namby pamby approach given to people who do crimes against the community!

As most people have pointed out you really have to look at the parent somewhat here, although not knowing the details and whole situation. Dirt bikes are noisy and you can hear them from quite far off, also you don't know if the parent crossed straight behind the bus I've seen it happen when they almost get knocked over and then have a go at the driver.

The other day I was riding down a street parents and kids walking along the pavements, there happens to be a bunch of mothers talking together letting their kids run about in front of them not paying attention. When a kid runs across the road in front of me I braked and stopped being alert. The mother then had the balls to have a go at me as I left.

Some people need take more care of their kids.
