Korn, I do beseech thee: please ban all of these 'charidee' pricks that keep appearing.

Is it possible to insta-ban anyone that tries to post anything that links to justgiving-esque sites on their first post? I'm not uncharitable, I'm just heartily sick of people signing up specifically to beg. Not that BCF is a victim of its own success, or anything.

surely they get auto-banned with enough negative karma? (at least that's what i thought happened?)

it is annoying but there's not much we can do to do it automatically.

not that I'm aware of anyway.

But how else do I get to go on my all expenses paid trips?

Stop being so selfish.

What I had in mind was as soon as they hit submit (assuming their post count is less than 5, or their joined date is within the past two days) on any post involving a link to a blacklisted site, they get their account wiped.

I am a properly draconian bastard when I want to be.

yeh that could work, perhaps not banned, just restricted from doing so for 10 posts or something.

i was thinking more key word but that couldn't be precise enough.

checking for links would be ok but not wiping accounts as someone may sign up and say 'hey all, just joined the site here's a link to my bike' and get their account wiped Smile

10 posts or something would ensure they at least get a little involved, reply on a few things, then they can post their begging err charity err bike pics yes.. that's it.

No need to ban them, you just need to be the first reply on their threads and present them with nobcat.

Nobcat is very powerful and it really annoys people... it's perfect for charity begging threads. Razz

hence my use of the word 'blacklist' - it's a list of sites that are not to be linked to. Normal photo links would be fine. Anything from, say, the justgiving domain would be subject to an inst-ban.

Are you kidding? They're hilarious, and ripe for ripping into. Today's $20,000 bike race one was comedy gold. Very Happy
