This is for my mate not me, I haven't caught the gay.

Basically needs to be near 2k, not Chinese and 0% finance is important too. Yamaha Vity seems to be the closest match I can see.

He couldn't get the hang of the clutch and basically gave up instantly and resorted to a scooter.

A lot of people don't always get it straight away, more practise on clutch work and then buy a motorbike?

and to answer ur question - I saw a scooter called a Honda PCX125 used one going for about 2,100 in the Honda dealers the other day and they're a lot wider and dont look as skinny as normal scooters.
You can pick up a decent one with 1,400 with like 5,000 miles on a 12 plate.

Does it have to be new?

I've had two Vitys from new; first was bought with Yamaha-subsidised comprehensive insurance, and was eventually stolen, thus the second.

They're slow, have very small wheels, can't be leaned over much (I was constantly scraping the centrestand by accident just going around normal corners), and don't like the potholed streets of London. Developed handling problems with the front end in less than 6k miles, got rid before trying to figure out what it was.

I'd recommend a second-hand PS125 if the seat height isn't an issue, Yamaha Cygnus otherwise. Flat footboard area is very practical. I've taken speedbumps at speeds that would burst milk cartons, never mind crack eggs, if they were kept in a topbox, but no problem on the luggage hook between my legs on a PS (I've owned one and been lent two by insurance).

Fat is not a desired attribute in a scooter; the skinnier, the better for filtering. PCX also doesn't have flat footboard, which would rule it out for me. YMMV.

I rode a Vity for a year, good value scooter, rides well unless you're the sort of tit who rides over pot holes instead of around them.

Big wheels
Nice LED dash
Good breaks & Suspension
Quite nippy 65mph

They ride like a motorized office chair.

On some of the roads round my way, they're more pothole than road, unavoidable if you want to keep your speed up Wink

Yea it pretty much has to be brand new, needs to be on finance.

Cheers for suggestions will pass them on.

He is not coming out with me on a scooter that is for sure, a 125 bike sure, but scoot's are just slow as feck, he seems to forgot I had a Cygnus for about a year so I know the pain.

What about the Honda Vision 110. The dealer in Farnham had one for £1699 with something like 0% finance, not too much slower than a 125 speed wise.

He ended up getting the Vity 125 thing. Seems like a poverty spec version of the Cygnus to me. Tiny front brake and can't fit a full face helmet under the seat.

I never had a problem getting a full face lid in my Vity, and found the brakes perfectly adequate

Is that a massive scooter or a tiny bloke?

My money says they deliberately hired someone <5' for that shot.

Next to a Cygnus it's tiny, 15cm disc vs. 21cm, single pot as well. Probably works fine I'm sure especially since it only has 10" wheels. Can't get a full face lid in though, I even tried just no space.

What I found is the Chinese/Vietnamese etc scooters.. The footwell is actually higher up than the Italian (Not sure about Japanese) built scooters because of the primary market they are built for.. Far eastern people are generally shorter than us Europeans, they have less reach in the leg. Thumbs Up

Having sat on a CPI (Vietnamese??) and a shitty DIRECTBIKES scooter they felt un-natural as my knees were up by my hands.. compared to a Piaggio and Gilera scooter where it felt much more comfortable.

A small / medium shell full-face helmet can definitely be squeezed under the seat, possibly with a slight bend in the seat as you force it to click shut. My GF was able to fit her Caberg Justissimo under her seat, and that was a bulky helmet - until it was stolen when someone broke the seat lock.

And the brakes are crap. Between myself and my GF, we've had four Vitys from new - the two first bikes we ever bought, and the insurance replacements after they were stolen. The FC insurance was discounted by Yamaha, they were 1250 each IIRC including the insurance, sold by George Whites before they went bust. I would not pay more than 500 for one new now, knowing what they're like.

He paid 2K on 0% finance Razz Daft considering I paid 5 or 600 for a 2 year old Cygnus back in the day. No my problem, he asks for advice then ignores it and does his own thing. The helmet we were trying to fit under the seat was either an L or XL... once again referring to my old Cygnus I could fit an XL helmet in as well as a jacket and gloves.
