I was just wondering as I have heard different stories about running bikes in. Some people say 500 miles some say 100 miles. The bike is a honda ns125rk, it has had a new piston, piston rings and gasket set. I have just had a ride out on it, did 25 miles and didn't go above 3000rpm which took me to about 30-35mph. Does that sound about right? And how long do you suggest before I can ride it normally? Thanks in advance

Keep it under 6,000 revs for the first 500 miles, then do an oil change and have fun Smile

So should I take it easy getting to 6000 rpm or does it not matter how quick I get there? After the bike is warm obviously?

Yes I am going to as I have just bought a new bottle of gearbox oil. Shouldn't be a hard job to change it is it?

Three heat cycles once the topend is done, the three heat cycles being start it let it tick over and get warm, turn it off let it cool down, repeat another two times.

Also re-torque the topend nuts after running it.

I ran my 2 Stroke in under 5,000RPMs and at 30MPH for a hundred miles, then just pinned it everywhere. Been fine.

Just make sure you always warm up a 2T before pinning it. Incorrect warm up procedure will mean more topend rebuilds to come. Or just get through them quicker than you should. Wink

Grab a manual for your bike if you haven't already and read it before carrying out each job. Thumbs Up
