That's right folks, taking everything into consideration, reliability, build quality etc etc, what is the best value sub 750cc bike money can buy for under 2k?

What is it and why would u buy it?

Why limit at a 750? TL1000R can be had for that kind of cash.

My money would go on a 2000/2001 GSXR 750 K1. High mileage or less than perfect condition could be had for less than £2k.

Agree, the K1 750 is a pretty capable road bike, would have no trouble keeping up with more modern bikes.

Ok a TLR1000 would be allowed as it can be insured for less than a GSXR750 I'm guessing,

So any bike greater cc than 750 can be suggested provided that they'd be insurable for a 28 yr old with 1 yrs ncb, I know the GSXR 750 can be so is this the bike to have in terms of value for money and reliability?

I had a 98 R1 at 19, how bad can insurance be at 28?!

VFR 750? (technically 748 so it is sub 750 Razz ) ranging from RC 24/RC 36 can be had for a range of figures (got my 94 3rd gen for £900 in the winter).

Aprilia Falco/Futura would be my shout. Hornet 900 if its a commuter.

Also depends a lot on what you want from a bike. Fun, commuter, touring etc?

really? rode mine all year round for 3 years on nothing but neglect and out of all its problems I dont think I ever had an electrical one (apart from the horn)..... my only real issue with the bike was the shit calipers it came with, you need to really clean them at least once a month!

Build quality is pretty good, just the usual Suzuki issue of thin paint on the tank.

Get yourself a 2002 or 2003 'Foxeye' Yamaha Fazer 600.

For £2k, you should be able to get really nice one with less than 20K on clock. Reliable, cheap to insure, decent economy (50mpg easy), great handling, plenty enough beans when you need it. Same brakes as R1. Comfy enough for touring, but sporty enough to get you head down and easily break a tonne, no sweat. Pillion seat is also comfy and it's still be plenty nippy two-up. Overall, good all rounder, be it commuting in town filtering, blitzing it on motorway, or getting your knee down on the twisties.

Older 'Square eye' Fazer's will be cheaper, but have a smaller tank and crappy headlights.
