Base layers for keeping cool

Hi all

I'm the type that'll always go out in leathers or textiles, boots n all whatever the weather.

Generally just wear a tshirt or work shirt under my leathers/textiles but is there any base layers you can wear which are better to wear rather than tshirt/work shirt, maybe non sweat or bit cooler?

Only think that will keep you cooler is a water cooled vest.

Other than that you need a wicking layer.

If you have a Nike Factory Outlet store near you or sports direct, stock up on the nike compression shirts. There are cheaper options out there, but I find that these conform to your frame better. I've always been an advocate for wearing compression layers under your leathers since it makes them getting on and off easier. It's a sweat reservoir effectively. Works well in conjunction with a vented/perforated suit.

Base layers work by wicking moisture away from the body, which is then evaporated by the wind, cooling the body through evaporative cooling.
Obviously, you need the wind to get into your leathers, but most clothing has air vents these days.
My leather 1 piece is totally perforated at the front, which helps greatly. (About as good as a chocolate fire guard for keeping you dry if it rains though)!

I tried out a sports top from Lidl last year, actually seemed to work pretty well.

Under Armour seems to be the "brand" stuff.

Uniqlo do their 'airism' range, which is reasonably cheap (£8 a shirt). I rate their thermal kit quite highly but haven't had a chance to wear the cooling shirt in anger yet.

I just wear pants, socks and a thin t-shirt on hot days

To be precise - i'm not talking Y-fronts, but the tighter 'boxers' specification of 'pants'.

Loose 'shorts' style 'pants' are not a prefered choice due to their habit of twisting around and bunching up whilst cornering leading to sweaty-ball-syndrome
