This is really pissing me off now. I have 3 screens and a projector and 99% of the time when I reboot my machine, it forgets all the resolutions and 1 or 2 of the monitors.

I have to boot in to Windows at the lowest res of whichever monitor has decided to work and change the resolutions and order of the screens back to how I have it.

The annoying thing is that on some occasions, it doesn't forget and everything is fine but that happens once in a while.

Setup is connected like:

HDMI (ASUS 27")
Display Port (ASUS 27")
DVI (Acer 18")

The projector replaces the HDMI plug with the ASUS when I need it.

I've tried plugging them in to the other card and it still forgets everything.

What model no. graphics card do you have installed?

What version of OS do you have?

Nvidia driver no?

Have you tried using the original driver that came with your card because sometimes you can no longer upgrade to the newer one which can happen and therefore you have to return to the earlier version that worked?

Also, try uninstalling the Nvidia driver & delete it from the system next reboot, and after that is done only allow it install windows own driver. Now, run the install from the latest Nvidia driver package for it or use the original driver that came with it instead.

2 x Gigabyte GTX680 4GB cards.
GeForce 320.49 Driver - WHQL
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

I don't want to go back to the original drivers as they don't work so well with 2 cards in SLi.

I did a driver sweep, removed in safe mode and installed latest 1st July drivers the other day and it still does it.

Here's a possible solution to your problem found so far found on another forum?

I also had this problem (NVidia GTX570) when I updated the driver. I have two monitors, a Dell 2209WA and a Cintiq 12WX). Position, resolution (and my primary monitor selection) was lost every reboot, which sure is annoying.

For some reason the scaling settings "Desktop size and position" was set to "Full screen" in the Nvidia control panel, which seems to cause the problem. I changed this to "No scaling", and setting up each monitor to it's native resolution. No more problems after this!

You sir, are a genius. Turned no scaling on all monitors, rebooted and it remembered. I turned it off whilst I went for a smoke and booted up and it remembered.

Looks like it's sorted now, serious karma to you Thumbs Up Karma

No problems glad to help and I guess that is why they usually recommend using identical monitors for the multiple monitor setup!

Just to update this...

It started playing silly bollocks again shortly after posting it was fixed. I think it was the display port monitor which was throwing it, as it didn't seem to ever initialise on Windows booting, only when it was fully booted to the desktop.

I've been running display fusion pro trial for several days now and it has completely fixed it. Not only that, allows you to have a task bar per monitor and better multi monitor features, like different wallpapers or one long one, etc.
