Trainspotting....

Maybe not the best, but certainly a zeitgeist recording for (some) people of my age..

I can't get enough of a violin / orchestra style soundtrack, which is why I love zimmer so much.

Perhaps one of my favourite scores of all time:

Clint Mansell - Death is the road to awe

Also

Hanz Zimmer - Time

Few more favourites:

Trevor Jones - The kiss (Last of the mohicans)

Clint Mansell - Requiem for a dream

Rob D - Clubbed to death (The Matrix)

Adagio in D minor from Sunshine.

Old Boy ending song, Last Waltz I think.

Not full soundtracks, but I love those songs.

For actual music tracks:

Watchmen.

Easy rider.

For score, definately agree with Tungtvann about sunshine.

Transformers also has an oddly compelling score

EDIT: Restless Natives has a soundtrack by Big Country which is pretty cool and entirely appropriate to the film. Also any film Queen did the soundtrack to, especially Highlander.

How can I forget Lisa Gerrard & Hanz Zimmer - Now we are free (Gladiator)

& Lisa Gerrard - The end (Man on fire) - Top comment is correct, something always makes my eyes water at the ending of that film/bridge scene, must be dust or something.

Eddie Vedder - No Ceiling (Into The Wild Sound track)

Ludovico Einaudi - Fuori dal mondo (This is England) - Such a haunting and eerie soundtrack

Escape from New York: Main Theme

Assault on Precinct 13 (original): Main Theme perfect for storming places with a street gang.

The Thing: Main Theme

John Carpenter sure knows how to make a catchy soundtrack & can't deny Ennio Morricone who composed the above Thing theme and this....

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Also Broken Arrow

The rest of these films soundtracks are pretty good too, but the themes definitely stick out.

Um....

BLADERUNNER?! [Vangelis]

The complete soundtrack from start to finish, not a single track or a good bit. The fucking thing was perfect for the movie.

Jurassic Park. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8zlUUrFK-M Still gives me goosebumps.

I like most of John Williams' stuff as well as Hans Zimmer. Gladiator was fantastic.

Not a good movie per se, not bad but no citizen cane. However, it's got an awesome soundtrack:

Last Action Hero.

Buffalo 66

All of the songs (many written by Vincent Gallo himself) are brilliant but this scene - and the song that with it - is extra brilliant.
