While out on the weekly meet with the Brotherhood last night I met a chap who's thinking about becoming a new prospect.
Eight weeks ago he had no bike licence. He went along to Shaw's Harley and asked if they could sort him out.

"When I was a kid", he said to them, "I had a picture on my wall of an Easyrider. I always wanted to be him and I've decided now is the time."

They have an in-house kind of trainer and hooked him up. A couple of hours on a 125, then to a 600, now he owns and rides a Sportster. In the last three weeks he's put a thousand miles on it.
And in a group of thirty of us you'd think he'd been riding for years (he's late thirties age). Thumbs Up Shocked

Now he's looking to join a patch club. Talk about...fuck, I don't know...into the deep end off a 100ft cliff? Laughing

I did mention to him that if he'd come on here (BCF) and said "I got no bike licence or experience riding bikes but I want a Sportster in four or five weeks" he'd have been laughed out of town.

So he was bi'ke'-curious, now he wants to join a brotherhood? That's good Smile there aren't enough homosexual bikers around. Very Happy

Edit: actually, thinking about it, that's not really impressive, I went from my first day of training for my full bike test, to having my tests booked up for the end of the same week. You're just saying that he happened to have the money to also go out and buy a fag machine after.

To be fair I'm confident I could go from not riding ever to mastering farm machinery in eight weeks too.

I agree. The difficulty of mastering machines is, in general, vastly over estimated. And especially so here at BCF.

Sucks teeth "Ooh, you didn't oughter wanna do that, you'll have your eye out you will."

No, they are all fags who think they look cool and are above the rules, when in reality they look fucking stupid, and pay insurance, road tax etc. just like the rest of us.

Oh and they go home and take part in man love.

Well, they're not. I'm sure there are gay bike clubs out there, but the patch clubs I've come across are 100% hetro so far.

I am indeed thinking of Harley owners. Very Happy

Most other clubs seem to enjoy using xj1300's and GSX 1400's.

The clubs I'm with have more non-Harleys than Harleys. I guess only the yank clubs go for that full on Harley-only rule.

So If I was bi-ke curious and I wanted to get a real machine rather than my petite 500cc

What would you recommend?

Apart from Harleys and Victorys.

Are you thinking of joining the 1% Hetzer? I would not have you down as a follower of such a strict regime.

I'm already a 1%, I don't need no fucking patch to validate my fasanabla ass.

But the patch is pretty and the backup is nice. If I do it'll be 2nd-tier though, I can't afford the full on malarkey. Not when it's all party and no earners.

Highly subjective values of heroism are involved, by the sounds of it.
