what does bcf think of them? looking at a 1998 one on ebay it has 31000 miles and one or two small cracks on front fairing, apart from that looks nice and i'm tempted to go view it. what would you look out for and how much do ya reckon its worth? he's asking 1700 which i think is a bit much.

Same as eddie says - love the bikes, but no-dice on the price with that one.

I sold my immaculate 98 zx7r for £1700 on ebay not long ago.

Electrics are iffy points.

They are super heavy, but very stable bikes.

They look awesome.

Pure sex, but as others said it's a little overpriced, doesn't mean you can't try your luck haggling though, most people add a little to the price expecting to be haggled down anyways.

Owned two of them. Brilliant machines, well planted and the power is just right for British roads. As said above though, that is a rip off. Mine was in very good condition and i payed £1800 with 18K on the clock.

Whorage...

They are heavy lumps, but make up for it with their presence and handling.

If I could have, I would still have mine now Crying or Very sad

The running cost is the reason i sold mine. It was a wonderful bike to ride, but most of my riding seems to be commuting, which it was useless at...

What running costs? Apart from the obvious more expensive tyres i find them as cheap to run as a 500 commuter.

The main negative is certain 2nd hand parts are getting hard to source and OE parts are a right rip off.

Despite their vintage they really haven't aged in the looks department at all, would say they actually look nicer than a lot of the more recent bikes.

Having had numerous bikes thro the past 20 years.
Blade, CBR600 , FZR 600, ZX6R's ,ZRX , ..
Currently use a YBR for commuting 21 miles a day.
The big 2002 P6 heavy green behemoth that I have now puts theeeee biggest grin on my face.
And beats a lot of fresher big bikes off the line
(change the sprockets ).

It is big, it is heavy , it is not a commuter and has a shit turning circle.

BUT.

it will put a smile on your face .

Simples.....

I beg to differ regards the age in looks.

Mines looks fucking ancient , even compared to my mates older 2001 GSXR750.

But it has that look of a future classic though... something which modern bikes lack! So on that list, original fireblade, ZX-7R, 98 R1... something that will appreciate in value.

I love the mid 90's look - in plain green.... Walker, Yanagawa, Russell ring any bells when you mention ZX7R?

I'd say best looking 750 of its day... but then again, I always had a soft spot for the ZXR750J-L models in kawasaki france colours.

Same for me. I think in my case its an age thing. When i first started noticing and liking bikes as a youngster these were the don's. So whenever i see one now old n retro or not it just looks cool as shit Cool Thumbs Up
