over 2 weeks ago now i payed for an RS125 nosecone from a guy called "goldy21" on the aprilia forum (he also advertised it on here at https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=35986 ) and it hasnt arrived, and he has severed all contact with me. He wont reply to any emails, PM's etc, and i dont really know what to do now, any ideas? does anybody know him personally and may be able to get hold of him for me or something? Ive treid asking royal mail if they have it, but they say they need to know where it was posted from, and if it was recorded delivery etc. Also, he may not have sent it via Royal Mail, i have no idea!

What should i do?!?!

Rolling Eyes You've been 0wn3d by the looks of it mate, you paid for a bike by cash to some one you didn't know.

I expect there is something you can do, I however do not know what. Karma

How did you pay for it? If it was with some sort of credit card I'm sure you can contact them, they'll reimburse you and then they chase up the money. If you paid cash, your screwed Confused

He's got 61 posts, so he might have gave a few things away, so search for his posts in his profile and try to look for a location.

I rpesume you have kept all of the contact emails that you have sent him??? Print them out and keep them secure. Print out the bank receipt or copy of how you paid and keep that with them.

Then, approach the police...Or even the CAB, they may be able to help. I'm not sure by him saying yes he will sell the bike and yes he has accepted the money that he has went into some sort of contract but I believe there is some sort of protection....

Guys, help this poor guy. No, "why did you pay him without seeing it", I'm sure he/she realises it already. Just incase anyone says that, thats all. I'm sure they're already hitting themselves on the ehad right now.

oh, right!! phew.....bladdy hell, I was thinking it was a bike.

You mean "nose cone" then. After taking a look at his past posts, it looks like he breaks bikes and sells bits and bobs.

If his IP is logged here or in the headers of any emails he sent, you could contact his ISP. You'd need to report it as fraud first then get the police to ask his ISP for the name and address for the person using that IP on that date(it can be done).
You could give it a shot yourself as ISP's don't like their customers doing stuff like this.

how would i contact his ISP? :S

whats odd though, is people on 125ccsportsbikes and the aprilia forum say they know him and hes not the sort of guy to rip anyone off, especially not for such a trivial amount of money, but he wont reply to their emails or anything either, and hasnt been online in ages when he used to be on every day. he used to reply to my emails within about 20 minutes...before i payed for the item...

I know how it feels I am only on £30 a week, the perils of working 7 hours a week and being 16. Neutral

That would only really work if he's got broadband (most probably has) seeing as Dial-Up uses dynamic IP's and not a fixed one.

Your ISP will still have a record of who it was assigned to.

True, you beat me to it, was just about to say that.

Personally I'd contact Paypal, if you have emails etc regarding it you should be able to get some money back.

Go to Paypal, and use the fraudulent payments page to explain the problem.

Thats what I did after paying money to someone, and not recieving and items.

Paypal will try to contact the seller over the course of a month or so. If they do not get any reply, they will refund you the full amount (or as close as they can get it if the exchange rate has changed)

Like the others have said, definitely pursue it through Paypal. From what I've heard they're very good about this stuff, to the extent that I think people often have trouble with payments being cancelled on them after something's been bought legitimately. Works in your favour though.

I used to scan the aprilia boards quite a lot, and I think he's quite a regular there, so hopefully he'll turn up again.
