Trouble shooting 'Megelli 125'

My dad has a Megelli 125 Super Moto.

Since owning it there has been the problem of having to ride with the choke on.
If it is at just the right possition it ride prefectly, if left off, the engine just bogs and cuts out, same if too high.
After lifting the needle it has fixed it to a poi t of being able to ride at 30 without needing the choke but anything over it just jumps, pops and farts.

Any ideas?

sounds like a fuel, problem but put some pics up....of carbs etc......

Sorry for slow reply. (Hospital stuff)

The carbs have been cleaned more than once. The bike runs fine with no choke until wanting to take it up to higher revs.

It does have a silly loud exhaust which i think has had the internals removed, and causing the problem


Any other ideas?

Sounds like its running dangerously lean....if you put the choke on and it runs better when warm....a bigger main jet may be required....lifting the needle helps up to 3/4 throttle. Give it a plug chop and see what it's showing.

I'll try get a video tomorrow of it. It ride perfectly up to 30mph but after it starts jumping and loosing power.

all sorted now....i stripped and cleaned the carb, cleaned the air filter pipe, petrol tank was full of gunk, charged up the battery gave the spark plug a good clean....finally got the bike running to the maximum that a SYM engine can be lol (53 mph) ....its a Megelli Supermoto thing also....really dont know why people buy these things....I told my mate, that if i had gone with him to see this bike I would have never let him buy it...for future reference to anyone that thinks about buying one of these
