Following on from Part 1 we're now 3 weeks away from departure. And bricking it.

Here's a little video we made in order to beg for money, cos at the moment the support car is really very pony https://vimeo.com/70270823

I know BCF like to climb down the throat, through the intestinal tract and out through the anus of anyone who dares to ask for money, so I am not expecting any less. Or expecting any money. But it would be remiss of me not to put our Indiegogo link up just in case, so here it is: https://igg.me/p/463917

The DVD/Bluray is going to be fucking awesome, I had 6 Drift HD Ghosts on an aeroplane last night and the results are very, very tasty indeed. Of course I've got 60gb of video to deal with and that was only a couple of hours flying...

1080p innit.

Doesn't help that they landed, sodded off for a cup of tea and left the cameras rolling for a good 20 mins. Laughing

I'm not paying for a jolly I'm paying for a flipping awesome DVD.

If I don't get said DVD I'm going to shake my fist angrily.

Drift give us cameras, we film cool shit that advertises Drift cameras, Drift sell more cameras. The world turns.

It isn't charity. It isn't even pretending to be charity. It is a transaction.

1) You pre-buy a DVD.

2) We spend some of your money making the physical DVD, and some of it making the content. Which is why you want the DVD in the first place.

3) You receive the DVD.

I really struggle to understand what peoples' problem is with crowd-funding. It's the ultimate filter - if people think your idea is shit it doesn't get funded and so doesn't get made. If they like it, and want your product, you get the money up-front which gives you a better idea of demand and the chance to improve what you're offering.

Let me help you with your difficulty in understanding here...this is where we get to not only think, silently, that it's a shit idea, we get to post a cheeky little comment too.

I'm sure your DVD will be at least as good as some of the free ones already up on youtube. And that's the point really. Same old same old...free! Wink

Well you can always lob a brick through my wing if the hooky download doesn't come up to standard. Thumbs Up

Bendy is doing something that I'll probably never get a chance to do, but I'd love to. She's gone through the hard work of organising this stuff (alongside the FOI team) to make it happen. She's never claimed it is charity (unlike 99% of the monetary requests on here).

So what if I want to give them money to do it? One day, maybe I'll do something equally nuts and they'll return the favour. Or maybe not. Either way I've definitely spent my money in much worse ways, for example alcohol and gambling. In fact, I've probably lost more money in loose change over the course of a year than I have giving it to some people who are going to use it to make an awesome product and have a great time doing it.

Some people spend money on The Best Of The Best. Some spend it on the lottery. I think I'd rather spend mine on this.

Constructively, the sales pitch could be clearer.

At first glance it looks like a sponsor-my-jolly, and a first glance might be all that you get.

Hooky download of what, your footage/DVD? Confused I have no interest in it, the fun would be doing the flight, not watching desert passing under a wing-tip view at 2000ft or whatever. Sleeping

I was being self-deprecating, this being BCF and all.

Not too worried about the pitch, we've raised 3/4 of our target in 24 hours.

Interesting that your ego causes you to take that as an attack upon your jolly rather than an explanation why I'd not want to blag your footage.

Get over yourself gal. Laughing

You two should probably just kiss and get it over with.

Yes it's a "sponsor my jolly" request but at least it isn't pretending to be anything else. If they genuinely reach an altitude of 93 million miles I'll give them the 2 grand myself.
