I wanted to mount my phone somewhere I could see it for use as a satnav, so after a few mins on ebay I bought this
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230864403958?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
without really thinking how I might mount it Embarassed
anyway after a bit of thinking and prodding I decided on using the redundant mirror mounting thread on the left bar, after 10 mins on my lathe I came up with
https://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii223/felicia16v/DSC_0674_zpsf976c375.jpg made from the centre of an old suspension bush or something (I am a magpie and always horde bits of alloy lol)
finished mount
https://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii223/felicia16v/DSC_0677_zpsa2396922.jpg
seems to work well altho the cheapo ebay bracket doesn't hold the phone tight enough for my liking so I will use an elastic band or something to help secure it.
the hardest bit was finding a bolt with the correct thread for the mirror mount and I wanted a countersunk one really so ended up cutting a countersunk bolt down and welding an inch of another bolt the correct thread to it then finished it in the lathe (I didn;t have a 10x1.25mm die to rethread the bolt)..
possibility of making a few others if anyone else fancies one too Thumbs Up

Whatever you do don't wear headphones with it then try to undo your jacket at 70mph.

You might end up sending your hour old smart phone bouncing down the A13 never to be seen again Embarassed

Wait, there's a mount for another mirror on the ZZR!?

Can you actually put a mirror there? I can't see bugger all except my elbows with the standard ones.

Yea because the levers are pretty generic there is a thread in each one for a mirror to screw in, it is capped with a plastic bung to keep the wet out etc but I think if you tried to fit a mirror in it would foul on the screen when steering.
My mirrors are the best ones I have ever had on a bike, nice size and adjustment. But I dont think any bikes give much more of a view than your elbows really

I might fit one from the CB500 just for the laugh after work Laughing

Edit: Just had a look at the ZZR and I see what you mean... mirrors there would be silly so maybe not!

Sony walkman (back in the day) 85mph on the A9 just south of Inverness, the term 'grenade' just doesn't do it justice!

I've got a ZX6R J front fairing and mirrors on my zzr and mirrors are much better than before!

What I did see that was cool was a streetfighter with no mirrors running a tail cam and a small rear view monitor

These guys have some good mounting options and holders made for specific phones, use there holder for my S4 and can't recommend it enough, especially with the extension so I can see it over my tank bag still.
