ok ok, so I know some of you are driving around on 1000CC machines of doom and wont be that impressed but for me this is something of a milestone. Angelic

So, a year ago, I was 30, had a new job, needed a cheap quick way to get to work and bought myself a peugeot speedfight scooter.

£900 on parts and two rebuilds later and I came to the conclusion that no matter how much I polish a turd, it will always be a turd.

The full realization of this came when I did a few runs from Coventry to Norwich and back over a week end. 280 mile round trip. I stripped a piston beyond all recognition by the third run and had to be trailered home (thank you RAC). I was somewhat annoyed as I only did 45mph and took regular breaks, but thats what you get for driving an air cooled 100cc 2stroke scooter in warm weather thats been designed by a frenchmen.

I was going to get a more reliable scooter but my house mate whose been a biker for years (former 600cc bandit owner) has convinced me to stop being bloody lazy, learn gears and get a propper (ish) bike.

Ive been hunting for the past month. lots of Hondas, yammys, etc, but then I saw one... One I fell in love with. Shes old, shes shapely, and apparently a little rare these days.

The Suziki RG125U Otherwise known as the suzuki Wolf, with powervalve, 20yrs old now, in good condition, just flew through MOT. £600...

On top of this, I picked up a full set of Akai "Honda racing" leathers that fit perfectly, for £30 from a car boot. unbelievable.

Happy me. Heres hoping I dont put myself through a hedge. Rolling Eyes

Man gets rid of 2 stroke because of reliability issues...

Buys a highly strung 125 2 stroke race bike instead...

Go figure.

Fingers crossed for you buddy, I don't know how reliable its gonna be but I know you're going to have a cracking time on it Very Happy

Its the rather fickle suzuki that needs nursing and lots of maintenance we are worried about.

I would get the tests on the horizon and get a full license - wont take many lessons as you have a few months under your belt.

Jump on anything 500 plus and you wont ever turn back.
