Decided to go to Olivers Mount today with my Bro and his mate to watch the racing. Though i would share some of my photos taken on my point and shoot £50 Sony camera so the quality is not amazing but not bad.

We set off this morning and stopped for a rest, yes we all have matching helmets and red bikes, yes it is a bit gay blah blah blah.....

Looks like a brilliant day out!

Does anyone know what this bar end is for? I was thinking for protecting the lever or for using to strap a bike in a van.

Could be, but I'd also be a bit worried it'd actually catch on the other rider or their bike, causing rather more problems in that scenario!

I would suspect it is to protect from that initial impact that so often breaks levers.

At brands I was all ready to get going again, until I found I was missing both brake levers.
If nothing else, it means you don't end up having to use the kill switch as a brake; which isn't great when idle is set at 1/3rd revs and flick you it back on again a little too late!

Its a brake lever guard. they made them mandatory in moto GP in 2012 and also this year in BSB I think, here is one reason why.

The lever is a motogp thing. It's stops the front brake being applied in moments of contact.

Going at high speed and having your clutch suddenly pulled in doesn't have quite the disastrous results as a high powered brake being fully applied!

Also, generally less likely to lose it in a crash too, as it goes - or at least not one you've got a chance to ride away from.
(As for the vast majority of tracks there's always 360 degrees more right handers than left.)

Hoped to be there but ended up taking the mother in law out for the day Rolling Eyes

Did a few laps in the family bus for a laugh earlier this month. Really puts the bike speeds in perspective.

Crashes on Jefferies Jumps (climbs up the hill from the bottom of the circuit, where the pics show the single bales tied to trees) can be spectacular. Sometimes the bikes end up cartwheeling down the hill into the field below, which is a fair old distance to fall.

What lap time did you manage in the Picasso and what tyres were you running. Is the Mother in law fit? Photos?

Had a coast to coast run over from sunny Blackpool to wet Scarborough on a whim, gotta say I was quite impressed with the circuit, especially the lower section through the woods down to the chicane and over the start / finish - very scenic and nice to get close to the action (normally go Oulton Park)

Scarborough night life on the other hand...........

Doesn't take that long to get home either Wink
