Anybody following it this year?

For those that haven't, the tour is in it's last week. Today was a time trial with the (kind of) British bloke Chris Froome taking his 3rd stage win. He's so good he has the yellow jersey and the polka-dot jersey.

Looking forward to 3 days of mountain racing.

Fancy doing this twice in one day?

Ok ok. Laughing

As there hasn't been a whiff of Lycra de France in this forum, I guessed there was no interest.

Title edited.

I think I spent time looking through BCF cos BR, twatter, facerape and all are full of live chat that interrupt my enjoyment of the tellybox in the evening... So I've not really commented much on it.

Think Covdude was quite into it last year and there was a fair bit of banter on the subject.

This year I think is proving to be interesting. In my opinion Frome (even he spells his own name wrong) hasn't got it all sewn up yet. He's being targeted every single day, multiple times - and all his team mates have shown they haven't got answers to that. He's on his own now. Don't get me wrong - if he goes on to counter the attacks and win the thing, fair play to the skinny alien. But it's a pretty big ask.

Contador was an asshat yesterday. Crashing of his own accord, then refusing to take a turn, then saying the skinny alien was pressing too hard - wtf! I had more respect for him before that.

Froome's got it in the bag IMO. Wasn't he born in Kenya, and raised in SA, hence the slight twang to the accent.

That makes the tour so good. It's never over 'till they have that Champagne on the final day.
I'm not sure how I feel about Alberto. Was it 2011 when he danced on his pedals and went past everyone. The group caught up and off he went again and completely busted them to bits. I'd not seen anyone climb like that. Then he got busted by the UCI.

This year like last year appears to have a 'clean' peloton and some of them are showing their age...Pity... as I'd like to see Cadel Evans give them a run one last time.

Va-Va Froome is a machine. Remember last year when he had to hang around for Sir Bradley. Froome vs Wiggo in 2014...Yes please.

Skinny Alien FTW.

Never gonna happen. Not in LeTour anyhow. Wiggo has said he's done the french one and wants to get a pink jersey next....

Froome would kick the fuck out of Wiggo, he is truly exceptional.

Tomorrow is what it is all about, I believe he can do it, Quintana is the only one who has been anywhere close to Froome on the climbs and has been well beaten both times.

If he wins tomorrow, he'll be a tour legend.

Indeed. That descent was the only chink in Froome's infallible armour during this tour. He could have let Contador go by 20 seconds and it would not have mattered to much if he felt it was dangerous.

Contador still would have fallen off anyway.

I don't think we will ever see Wiggo riding a tour de France again. At least not in Sky colours.

It has been a great tour so far and today is going to be the best stage of the lot.

On the first point - I could see him riding as a super domestique for Froome. You'd not want to ride against him if you were Wiggins.

Totally agree on the second point, has been an awesome tour, particularly the flat stage last Friday with the crazy splits. Magnificent.

^^^You would've loved the excitement when most of the peloton had to wait at a railway crossing..Ooo the tension. Smile

Short stage today.

If this kind of thing happened more I might watch the tour:

Mountain biker jumps over the Tour de France

But twice in 10 years isn't frequent enough to hold my interest!
