I can't really remember. Must have been in July. I used to do it every second week, but I'm working nearly every hour I have so haven't had a chance to clean it. Really should now that they're starting to grit the roads.

So how long since you last cleaned it?

Haven't bothered washing it yet cos I got it new. Went out on it for the first time in 2 months today and managed to get it covered in crap, got mud all over the footpegs and I didn't go near any, so god knows how that got there. Probably wash it thursday if I'm off work. Expect I'll probably only ever do it if it really needs it after that.

Had a 100 odd mile ride on Sunday and gave it a jet wash when I got home, needs a good proper wash though.

I must admit I haven't washed my main bike for over a week and
she is looking dirty and rather sad. Giving her a quick wash in the
morning.

Washed mine yesterday and today...... got fed up with the rear brake not working due to the crap salt the local council has thrown on the roads.

I felt so guilty about not cleaning her I had to do it at the weekend. Must have been two weeks before that she last got cleaned.
Some people's bikes always seem to be immaculate even in the depths of winter. They must clean them everyday after work! Laughing

I clean mine every week, sunday usually. Its only really the wheels that need cleaning to get all the brake dust off and reveal the shining orange paint underneath Mr. Green

I always used to keep a protective layer of summer dirt on my bikes for winter, stopped the road salt getting to the metal.

Then wash them in the spring.

I wash my bike frequently as the roads are covered in salt n shit

and for the sake of some hot soapy water and a good rinse and polish + a bit of WD40 it stops the bike rotting and provides a protective coating so the shit dont stick, hence my bikes have not rotted

God knows what will happen when I take my new squeaky clean bike out into the middle of winter muck. Especially as I live in the middle of the country and it takes my parent's cars about 60 seconds to go from shiny to black with filth.

Just a quick question, may seem a bit silly Embarassed (it's my first bike!). How do you go about washing a bike? I mean is it safe to blast the engine with a hose? I know it's out there in the rain and all that, but it seems a bit like lifting the bonnet of a car and throwing soap and water down there. I just don't want to wreck anything.

Washed it, you mean like properly & stuff, with water & polish & things? The day I brought it home from the shop I think. Embarassed

I do give it a wipe down every now & again though, & polish my shiny exhausts with Mr Sheen!

I'd like to wash my bike every second week, but I never get round to doing it. So I ended up washing it every month instead.

Does wiping the seat off of dew or ice in the morning count? If so, daily! Smile

Yesterday!

I went down to where its being stored at the race team workshop and gave it a thorough clean as when I took it down there it was raining and it was covered in crap.

Had a good few hours going round it as it will probably be there over the winter as my new garage hasn't been built yet, and my old one is now my office! Laughing So, I wanted it to be tidy before leaving it for a while.

Didn't matter that much though as one of the mechanics was rubbing down the bodywork from the car and makeing a shit load of dust! Note to self: Take sheet down to cover bike! Laughing

Washed my bike 2 weeks ago. Rode 70 miles and it was a state again Crying or Very sad

My bike is a work-horse so doesnt get as much TLC as it should.

This weekend I plan to have the back wheel off, and get right round the swinging arm with a fresh lick of paint and underseal... I've noticed a spot of rust eating the frame Confused

Also the rear wheel is filthy, damn that aerosol lube...

I washed it once, but only cause I was *that* bored. I mean I don't really care about my bike, it was lucky that it got the exhaust pipes sprayed with WD40 yesterday. Laughing
