Can't be that many. I've neither seen nor heard of one and I've seen a great many dogs in my time.

Generalising here but being an uncommon breed probably means they have a very limited breeding pool, some truly bizarre genetic abnormalities and a demanding, controlling and obnoxious breed society.

I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles.

Probably couldn't get more opposite Very Happy They've been around for centuries, and are a bit of a mixture of other breeds.

I looked into getting one a few years back, but I thought it would be a bit too much for my missus who hadn't ever owned a dog before, so we ended up going with a border collie cross.

I've met a few, and their owners Very Happy . Great dogs, but deffo not for the novice dog owner. They take a huge amount of effort to train, and even then they're extremely independent, read stubborn Very Happy They take a fair bit of exercise and will literally run for miles leaving you wondering whether you still own a dog.

Very much a pack dog, so unless you're going to be with them a lot, then I'd not recommend them as an only dog. they seem quite similar in nature and temperament to the dogs we've got now, Husky/Malamute/Alsatian crosses.

I have a dog.

Was walking down the street the other day and a toddler pointed at him and said 'Mummy, it's a cow!"

I have a cow dog.

I might try and milk him later.

If it was german there'd be more shouty letters. It's just bad spelling!

I have seen one in Stoke Newington. Lots of Kurds and Turks there. Seems to be 'their' national dog. The owner says it cost about 2k. Pretty tall and confident dog.

That looks more like a Kangal - more curly tail - not there's much difference between them really. Pretty much the same dog. I think the Anatolian is a bit more fluffy (coat wise).

I had that looked at them - but the consensus was "can't let them off the lead when out, ever."

Of course some claim they have total trust in theirs.

I'd want to make sure I definitely was in the right situation to be able to own one look after it properly.

Woman walks about 8 dogs in the racecourse near my bit, one of them is a kangal and it stays off leash. Alot of Americans have anatolian, from what I have read you must keep them leashed near your home l, however they should be ok away from there territory. Lovely looking dogs I'm and have a excellent temperament, great with family's and kids.
