Brakes

I discovered a split brake pipe on my peugeot speedfight 2 so i thought id better replace it. So i put on the new brake pipe went to bleed it and i cant seem to make it bleed properly.

Ive done it the way were you open the bleed nipple, squeeze the lever in and shut the nipple and keep going through that but cant get the system to pressurize? it applies the brakes but not with enough force to stop it. The brake worked fine before though so i must be doing something wrong?

ive looked at internet videos and i think im doing it right.

speedfight brakes have to be bled backwards with a syringe full of brake fluid, some clear pipe and some ptfe tape round the bleed nipple, just watch how much you pump up as it'll soon pee out the top

i had a go with the syringe and it still wont pressurize fully so there must be some air in there somewere ill have another go tomorrow and get back to you cheers for the help.

Did you take off the reservior cap and top up as you bled it ?

Did you always have the bleed nipple closed unless the lever was being gently pulled back and closed again before it came right back?

Did you do it til yer fecking arm got knackered?

The last time we did it we did it backwards with a syringe. But when i was doing it earlier the resivour was filling up but still no pressure.

Theres fluid flowing through the system but theres got to be some air in there somewhere

Haha ye was pressing it in and out for ages with no luck just a dead arm theres some pressure in there so must be getting close ill have another go cheers

When I did my single pot tiny front brake using the fill reservoir --> Squeeze Lever --> Open Bleed valve --> Shut Bleed Valve --> Release Lever --> Repeat
It took something crazy like 90-120 minutes and 4 refills of the reservoir to get pressure again. No idea how many times I squeezed the lever, a million!
So to echo others, it can take a very long time.

Second time I replaced the fluid, used Syringe and reverse bleed. Whole thing took 20mins if that.

Had another go today gave the pipe a wiggle while doing it the lever seems to be getting harder slowly i think with a few more goes it should be fine

Spent an age with the NSR front brake and after what seemed like hours trying to get it to build pressure I ended up shaking the lever back and forth like a an epileptic and low and behold, a few bubbles edged out the calliper and boom. Job done!

Some times loosing your rag and getting a little rough can be a good thing Wink
