Hi all, im new to this forum but have a question to tease you, i have recently bought a lexmoto 125 xrts (some of you may ask WHY, but thats for another day), anyway, when i come to a junction or have to stop, the bike cuts out even when i hold the clutch in and it can take a while to get it going again unless i keep the revs above 3k. The bike is second hand but it is less than a year old. I have been told that it could be the idle tensioner but i don't know where it is...is it this or could it be something else?
I know it is very annoying especially when traffic is building behind you lol. Any help with this or any other potential problem it could be would be greatly appriciated,
Many thanks

I've no idea what an idle tensioner even is.....

Your issue sounds like a dragging clutch (If it only cuts out when in gear)

Or fuel/carb related if it does it all the time regardless of gear/neutral.

to be honest, im not sure if it does it all in gear or neutral, i do find neutral very difficult to find and by time the bike stops, im in a flap to get it started again that i don't notice which gear (or not) im in, i just know it down to first to pull away as quick as poss. As for the tensioner, i too am unsure, it is what "someone who think they know what to do on bikes" told me. I know before i got the bike, it has been serviced every couple of thousand kms

IMO, check all the fuel and vacuum lines between the engine tank and carbs, check all your breathers, are any of the lines kinked?

It's the shiny bit on the left of the thing. Laughing

Your mate's chatting shit. Get the plug out, take a photo & post it on here. That'll make it easier to decide if carburation fault & what to do about it Thumbs Up

Plug?....spark plug? im presuming thats what you mean, will do that but if you mean something else, then by all means let me know, cheers

Get its clothes off and have a look at the carb.

Does it look like this?

If so, you'll want to adjust both the idle mixture and idle speed screws until you've got it running sweetly.

They tend to come set lean from the factory, so I'd expect you'll want to unscrew the mixture screw a bit, but who knows what's been done to it. Just try small adjustments in either direction until the idle revs are maximised.

Use the idle speed screw as necessary to keep it idling smoothly then back it out until it's idling at about 1200 - 1500rpm, as low as it'll comfortably go once its warmed up.

Do all this with the choke off.

If your carb looks different, then post pictures of it - someone will know where to poke it.
