Need help obtaining a new bike :(

Hi guys and girls

I posted a while ago about an accident I had on here. Well I went through insurance and liabilty is being argued over. anyway I am being sent a cheque to replace my old CBR 600 as it was in a poor state not worth repairing.

I have done a few quick quotes on the net regarding other bikes and cbrs and gsx's are coming up at over 1400 for me as I lost my no claims.

I am wondering if anyone on here is selling a commuting bike?
I dont have a massive budget and I have been riding a Suzuki GSF from the insurance company which is pretty comfy!

I havent tried contacting my current insurance yet regarding how much a difference in insurance will be BUT I dont know if its worth asking as its half way through a policy and I wouldnt get any no claims from it? unless they just started me on a new policy

Is it a fault accident?

If it's non-fault, I thought your no-claims stayed intact?

Secondly, if it is a non-fault accident, this doesn't mean that your insurance policy is necessarily over. My housemate had a non-fault on his GSX600F. He bought it back from the insurance company, fixed it, put it through an MOT (to please his insurance) and then continued to ride the bike.

I had a fault accident but my insurance was not cancelled. I didn't claim for my bike being written off through. As far as they know my bike hasn't a scratch on it... so I repaired it and rode it as such.

i just contacted them

they just said as its ongoing its ok and they would insure me on a new bike as if the accident hadnt occured, HOWEVER if liability goes 50/50 or 100% on me ( which it better fucking not!) id still be insured till the polciy runs out next march but id have no claims as I only had 2 anyway so couldnt protect

If you don't replace the bike, or buy it back, you can't have insurance.

im going to the honda dealer today to look at some bikes ( mainly a cbr 500 r) and see what the insurance differance may be on that. hopefully not much as its fully alarmed etc so its safer however being a new bike is worth a lot more so we will see. finance deal on them atm is quite good, £5 bike after 5 years 5250 not bad me thinks, well thats what is it at my local branch

If you want a shit bike, grab the 500"R" It is essentially a CB500.

just came back from the dealer , and ran some quotes its over 1200 to insure

fuck sake at this rate im going to have to give up on motorbikes for abit and use public transport :'(

the money you save on buying it you can use on issurance. it only cost me £300 to insure living in the centre of plymouth with 0 no claims (1998 model)
