Why is that all cagers decide when I'm behind them that it'd be a good idea to clean their windscreens. Do they wait for me to be behind them? Could they not have waited the few seconds it'd take me to get along side them? So far in the last 2 weeks its happened 5 times! So i end up with water seaping into my balaclave, they end up with a pathetically cleaned windscreen and have me angry at them. What did it achieve?

Grrr...rant over

This is so true!

It's bad enough in winter, but this summer I was waiting at traffic lights & unable to filter to the front, when the old codger in the Micra in front decided it would be the perfect time to wash the screen.

The jets were perfectly aligned so that all water shot directly over the roof of the vehicle and sprayed over me. My visor was up and I got a faceful!

Much beeping of my feeble horn and shouted profanities just resulted in no reaction whatsoever. And off he pottered totally oblivious to all and sundry.

At least it was a warm summers day I suppose & not 70+mph on a motorway in the winter!

The simple reason is that:

a) They haven't seen you, largley because they don't feel the need to look.

and

b) It would not even occur to them had they seen you that washing their windows would cause annoyance.

furthermore

c) They couldn't give a shit even if it did occur to them.

Whenever it happens to me I make a point of exaggeratedly acting drenched. Usually amuses the people around me, if not always the person that did it. If I had somewhere to stow it, I'd carry a small umbrella just so I could put it up for comedic effect. Smile

Or a water pistol to shoot back Wink

I seen Nova bois with setups to shoot sideways (not seen one while i been on a bike). Dunno whether they bought it or just bent something the wrong way.

Was quite funny though, sitting at a roundabout with lights and watching them spray the car to next to them (at first i thought they had water pistols from the windows, but windows were shut as was door!)

90% of car drivers i would imagine dont know about it, since the roof keeps them cosy and dry, and they never stood outside their car while its been squirted.

It's funny until people start spraying paint stripper/ brake fluid about. Then it's just criminal damage.

Yeah i seen the odd paintball flying around the streets, once off a public bus!? Question Exclamation

Oddesnt thing ever aimed at me (or in my direction) was riding on the one road into my village next to a golf course.. to see a bloody golf ball bouncing down the other side of the road next to me!

And it was really bouncing, at least my height on bike first couple of bounces!

Back on topic.

Not a whole lot can be done about it, maybe ride slightly offset on cars (which i imagine you would do anyway to hog the lane) to avoid the worst of it.. and simply put the rest down to bad luck.

I know of someone who took the washer jets of an Army Landrover and put them into the dash. Then linked it up to the flasher relay so every time the indicator flashed the driver got squirted.

This old chestnut.

If my screen is dirty, I'll clean it. Some of the screenwash will go over my car and hit whatever is behind me.

Don't like it? Don't care. Leave the correct distance and you should be ok.

Totally agree Thumbs Up

Would be a different story if the screen was dirty and they didn't see you because of it.

I don't generally mind it if it's on the motorway, it's more at the lower speeds when the distance between vehicles is closer, especially on the 40mph dual carriageway part i go on on the way to work.

Oh, and yes, it happened again today! Used the water to clean the cack off my visor. Best of a bad situation.

It doesn't really annoy me that much to be honest, depends on what mood i'm in. And I got paid today. Thumbs Up
