Police being slow and useless family issues still. r.i.p :(

after threrads regarding my grandad and dad stealing his money little update.

got called into the police station on the 11th of july to give a statement and give my evidence, i was then told my dad admitted to "taking" the money but has since payed him back..

£20,000 plus on jsa in less than 6 months id like to know how he did that.

anyway spoke about seeing my grandad as he is now in a care home, we know where but ive been told by the police i can't go see him unless my dad says i can.. now we all know he will say no.

the police lady told me she would go talk to my dad and find out if im allowed to see my grandad..

15 days later i got a call today asking me if i have a contact number for my dad as they can't contact him.. wtf has taken so long!! he lives 15 minutes from the police station shes based at.

gave her the number i had to be told they have that one but arent able to get hold of him she said she would see what she could do as shes finished her shift now.

what i want to know is why would my dad have say in who visits my grandad? hes his adopted dad and is under the care of social services, surely its just a case of my grandad saying if i can visit him or not?

is there anything i can actually do that dosen't involve waiting 2 weeks for the police to make a call to my dad for him to just turn round and say no and if he does say no then what?

From what you're saying I can't see why it's up to your dad, or the police, whether or not you can see your grandad.

Contact the care home directly and ask if your grandad is happy to see you. If he is, go and see him. Don't wait for other people to sort it out for you.

If you know where he is can't you get in touch with the home and ask about visiting?
Your G'dad's an adult and can decide for himself who visits surely?
Or does he have alzheimers and all it's complications, recognition problems etc, not able to decide for himself.

Will call them tomorrow as its probably too late to call today, was told by care home to speak to manager on monday as my dads not my grandads biological son as hes adopted but he does have a real son so maybe something could be done there.

pretty damn annoyed now.

Ask the police what the charge would be if you went to see him, and on what act, law or legislation the charge is based on?

Go to care home, ring bell, say youve come to see your grandad, staff will be pleased to let you in.
Sign yourself in, visit grandad, sign your self out.
I do this every week to see my Aunt, whats the problem!

the problem is the care home have been instructed not to let me in...

ive spoke to my sister whos so far up my dads arse she can see the sun and shes claiming i only want to see my grandad to cause trouble and shit..
propper fucked off with all this now.

Im a nurse in a similar setting and this sounds very concerning and abnormal
The police are often out their depth with this kind of thing you should ring the CQC care quality commission and explain the whole thing they will get the wheels turning much quicker and investigate - if the care home is in anyway to fault or not following up on things with your grandfather appropriately this will stir them into effect also - the CQC starting investigations and inspections is the last thing most of these places will want to start occuring.

If it was my grandad and I wanted to see him, I'd just turn up at the care home and walk in illegal or not. Would be well worth getting arrested for.

The only crime you could be committing is trespass (if you don't kick off). I'm sure the CPS will just fall over themselves to prosecute someone trying to check that his grandad is OK, just like they did to prosecute your dad for stealing from him...
