I had a CBR600 which, when I bought it, sounded nice but after a couple of minutes running developed 'the rattle'. I removed the tensioner, pulled it apart and added some pre-load onto the spring by carefully taking note of how many turns it took to dismantle it, adding one turn then putting it back together. It went back to sounding nice again and the new owner has put thousands of hard miles onto it since. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'
