I'd use MCN, Bike trader, and often quite good around here Bargain pages. It's free I think to place Ad's and the paper was £1 a week when I used to buy it. I've had two KMX200's, a CG125, and lots of other nearly bought's. There was always loads of interesting bikes in there every week.

If the bike is pre 1995 or older I'd put a free ad in CMM magazine or PS mag too.

I've always used a combination of Biketrader and Mcn, one success on each - Added benefit of being in the MCN paper also with Mcn but then i'm not that sure what sort of viewing audience that really has, as for example with a little sports 125 i sold via autotrader, i'm not sure the majority of potential buyers are MCN readers to be honest Laughing

Gumtree i never bothered with but thats as i never really consider it when buying myself either, no real reason against it as such.

As someone who very recently was looking for a new bike I mainly searched on eBay, Biketrader and a could of times on Gumtree. I eventually bought a bike I saw on eBay which was local to me so I could see it before handing over my hard earned pennies.

I did find that a lot of bikes on Biketrader were on the more expensive side, especially from dealers (as you would expect), so if you price yours fairly that should actually make it stand out.

Most important thing is to make sure you have good photos - I saw loads of adverts where there wasn't a picture showing the whole bike, just close-ups of fenders, wheels, tanks, etc. To be honest that made me a bit suspicious.
