i am considering trading in my gs125 for a gpx 250. i know it isnt new, but it has 3 times the power of my bike. and think it would be a good bike for just after my test.
any opinions, cos i am considering one of them on biketrader.
any help much appreciated!

Hi
Performance marginally (and I mean marginally) better than a full power sport 125, but with very good fuel consumption. Should be quite a good first bike, but they are not that torquey (red line is at 14000 from memory). You do need to rev them hard, but then you still need to take it easy until they are warm.
Handling wise a sports 125 would be far better, but the GPX should be quite a nice improvement on the GS.
Think they are still made for some markets. Think "Keen" had one for a while working in the USA.
All the best

I have the zzr 250 uses the same engine but has better frame work etc. It's alrite doesn't have anything after 85mph but will keep going to about 110 just takes ages. Very good on fuel, easy enough to work on. I just replaced the airbox with clamp on K&N filters and it sounds so much nicer!
I've worked on the GPX and ZZR 250 now and i do prefer the ZZR due to better frame (sports type) bigger disk brake oh and looks fully faired
