I don't have an aerial in this house, front room, master bedroom is virgin.

Wanting to put a tv in the babies room which has network.

Can I buy a box that can allow me to view tv over IP?

Don't want to use a pc as whilst I'm all up for a htpc they just won't be a polished a purpose built solution in my experience inc XBMC.

Do you want to stream from your Virgin box or just use iPlayer/4oD etc?

I've got a raspberry pi with rapsbmc on and stream from iPlayer, however 4oD is broken along with 5Demand. Turns out because of licensing agreements they have to actively stop people trying to stream to unauthorised devices, such as XBMC. Bit of a shame really!

I want to watch live tv, just the same as with an aerial.

No need to link to my virgin boxes, they might both be in use whilst wanting to use this set.

An aerial is the correct answer, but thought something must plug into services such as tvcatchup. Certain we have something like it at work but not seem any of the networks lads recently to ask. (One of the halls is in a signal black spot so they do tv via ip)

Well virgin charge for extra boxes in different rooms so im not sure that can be shared on the cheap ?

I had an ariel installed for upstairs and use freeveiw boxes as it worked out cheaper than paying virgin for 2 boxes per month...

For watching tv via internet maybe a tablet could be used with hdmi ? ive been using a tablet for netflix upstairs rather than dragging the lap top about..

I also feel im talking bollox reading your origional question lol

Buy a cheap Android HDMI stick, install TV Catchup and other TV apps
