Hi,
I am looking at buying a CG125 as my first bike. I am a newbie when it comes to bikes and dont really know what is a good deal for this kind of bike so I thought I would ask peoples opinion on here.
I have found one from a place called budget bikes in Swindon, details below.
https://www.budgetbikesuk.co.uk/26816/used-bikes.htm
(goto second page and its the 4th one down)
reg: 06
Mileage: ~22,000
4 prev owners
The guy on the phone said that when if I bought it they would give it a fresh MOT and do a PDI on it. When I asked about the chain he said it had gone just over 50% of its adjustment limit.
Im going down to have a look at it later this week but I just wanted to know the general feelings about this company? and if this is a good deal and not a rip off? When I look at the bike what kind of things should I look for? and any other general advice you think may be useful would be most welcome.
Thanks in advance for any responses |

Visually looks in alright condition in the pics doesn't look to be rusting or anything particulary - obviously though thats not to say its running great you'd have to check that when you go down.
Have a look to see if its got any service history and stuff, maybe ask to the see the MOT history to see if its had any issues.
Price wise from a 'dealer' i wouldn't of though thats particulary extortionate personally but i may be wrong - probably much cheaper and argueably equal or even better than other ones to be found from private sellers though.
Have you checked out Biketrader, MCN, gumtree/ebay etc |

Iv had friends buy bikes form dealers with "MOT". Scummy looking dealers, and in their case an MOT means "runs unltill it sells and then it's your problem" Then it's too much hastle to report them to propper authorities so no one bothers.
Moral of the story. Don't jump at the first bike you see, look around, test ride, have a good look all around, looking for rust, coroded wires, listen for dodgy noises, make sure it starts, runs and idles smoothly, wear on chain and tyres (they can be costly if missed).
If anything you can use them things to knock down the price. Take your time. |
