Today I was riding along and saw a helmet in the middle of the road. Slowed down and moved it to the side as it's a pretty dangerous item.

How it got there I have no idea. It looked to be in good nick with a few bug splats and chips in the visor but usable. Sitting in the middle of a busy dual I wasn't really inspecting too much.

I had no room on the bike and a 200 mile journey ahead of me so I didn't acquire it for pillion use.

So, yeah. If you or a friend have lost your helmet then it's sitting on the left side barrier on the A406 westbound. Spotted at 2pm today so could be gone now.

https://goo.gl/maps/yrXzX (very rough location - I just remember the high wall and the crash barrier).

Might seem like a daft post but helmets are fairly expensive. Maybe someone left their topbox open.

(I await post from local BCF-er that goes down to nab themselves a free helmet.)

Thread hijack for true story.

Many years ago a motorcyclist crashed on the A38 and the spare skid lid he was transporting flew over the central reservation and across in front of an on-coming car.

Later, whilst at work the shaken driver of the aforementioned car was regaling her work colleagues with a "a biker crashed and I thought his head had come off and rolled in front of me" story when one of her colleagues piped up with "that was my son".

I know it's a true story as, dear reader, I was that motorcyclist.
