Usually an allowance is paid per mile covered for business usage so you'll get something like 40p per mile probably the month following you putting in your mileage claim. ____________________ Nobby the Bastard: How yo tell the difference between the actual japanese and her just screaming because she's had live fish stuck up her arse? Any car allowance that I have been entitled to has been a taxable amount that is paid monthly toward the ownership and upkeep of a vehicle.
Current post would pay me a taxable sum of £250 per month, for which I must have a roadworthy vehicle (at least 4 door, under 7 years old, no soft tops etc.) available for business use.
Did it for a few years, but when you've got to fork out for a full set of tyres, it makes you realise how far your monthly allowance doesn't go. ____________________ '82 C50, '81 CB100, '84 GS125, '95 NTV650, '00 Bandit 600, '06 SV650, '56 Z1000, '89 NTV600

Your car allowance won't be paid upfront, as Cunnington said it's basically just an extra amount that's added onto your salary (so subject to full tax and NI) each month to allow you to keep a vehicle and there are usually contractual provisos about what sort of vehicle it can be.
Fuel card means they will provide all the fuel for the vehicle so you won't be able to claim any mileage allowance and you will also be taxed (via your tax code) on the fuel that is deemed to be for personal use. ____________________ Sod falling in love, I wanna fall in chocolate. |
