Hi all

So yesterday I rode a KTM 450 EXC for the first time off road and wow Shocked

So much power and front didn't want to stay down, wheel spinning everywhere, was great fun!

Anyone ride these on the road, must be insane?

Are most supermotos like the KTM I rode being the nature of a single? Like the KTM 625 SMC or Honda XR 400 or is the EXC just on another level?

The KTM 450 EXC has a completely different nature to the XR400R.

The benefits of the KTM are the electirc starter, the superior suspension, better power - in fact better everything. My XR400R is my old enduro race bike but now serves a different purpose as a Supermoto road bike and is a lot of fun Thumbs Up Twisted Evil Thumbs Up especially when ridden alongside other like minded people

Someone I know had a KTM 625MC and the engine blew its guts out

Iv'e rode a EXC 450 they are fantastic fun, but really shit to ride on the road, no good for regular road use because of service intervals and stuff and even if you did i would change the brakes, tyres, suspension ect.

If you want a road ready sumo look at the common drz 400 down on power but still fun enough or a 690 LC4 Thumbs Up

All supermotos are fun in my eyes, anything over 400cc makes for fantastic lols.

I had this...

Which did this...

Laughing I can imagine something with 10-15 more hp and less weight Shocked would be far superior.

I would like a go on something like a 640 or a 690SMC Thumbs Up

Competition bikes like the EXC take it up a notch - they are lighter and often more powerful than road/trail biased bikes.
But have service intervals to match, too.

They are also often a bit lower geared, giving it a feeling of more power.
