He was left without a ride, as Tech 3 were going after Pol Esparago. Factory Yam and Honda are contracted up till 2015. He has added a 0 to the end of his paycheck.

He ain't that young and wants to set himself up for life who can blame him.

I reckon he may get the Duc to work, his style is different to the other riders.

I really hope it's not a Rossi/Dovi repeat.

I bet Andrea is kicking himself every morning with regards to the races. Granted, the money can compensate..

Another career floundering 'pon the Duke. Still Cal will get paid in full for competing to be 6th / 7th and First Ducati home. Thumbs Down

Is it? He seems very awfully at home on the Yam at the moment...

Pretty good move really.
Get paid loads of money, everybody knows the duke is hopeless and blames the bike.
Get some good results and suddenly he's a hero that has done the impossible.

I predict a season of being frustrated carrying more corner speed but unable to outbrake Dovi fighting over 7th-8th place (maybe Neutral )

So it's him and Dovi again? Both riders who are able to suppress the 'Fear', unlike Hayden. With the bigger purse offered by Audi it could add upto some good racing in 2014, with 3 instead of 2 manufacturers battling for the bubbly.

Or he'll bash himself to pieces and spend the remainder of the season never quite overcoming the 'Fear'. Smile

2014....Big year for Cal.

His girlfriend looks smart and practical. He's possibly looking to upgrade her to some erratic Latin mentalist who's all implants and eyelashes. Thinking

No, he wasn't. According to More Crap than News Yamaha increased his pay:

https://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/sport/sportresults/MotoGP/2013/August/aug0113-cal-signs-for-ducati/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

Cal's style is reliant on a good front end and he is consistently in the top 5 late brakers according to Brembo's data. The Ducati suffers from a poor front end. Does not compute.

We live in hope.

I like my superstars and partners to look plastic and false....makes me feel better.

I hope Cal stops that wanki way of talking in interviews. It's like he's speaking to someone who cannot understand him, plus that silly voice inflection that everyone under 30 seems to do. Where sentences are ended with the sound of a question.

He had no factory ride at yamaha nor honda. if neither were willing to give him a factory spec bike he'd be left with a choice of taking a satalite ride and hoping for something when either one of the top 4 retires, or that suzuki are competitive, or that ducati gets their shit together. So going to Ducati now with a fat sack of cash and hoping for them to become competitive makes sense.

At least they gave him a factory bike even though its fighting with CRT's Laughing

Hopefully Audi have something planned, not really for Cal but for the series. Would be nice to have more manufacturers fighting for the title

Glad to see I'm not the only one who finds this unbearably irritating. I blame the Aussies for it myself? Laughing

This could be Cals sh*t or bust decision tbh, a bit of a gamble I would have thought but, why not. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Think of all the extra R&D Spidi will get to do from his additional crashing. Thumbs Up

Seems like a daft move to me, mainly thinking of the monies. I suppose he could cruise around on the Ducati for a few years. Proclaim it to be crap, then retire and spend the time boffing his missus. Thumbs Up

It'll be entertaining, he kicks off enough at yamaha quite openly about having old bikes/parts etc

if/when he does it at Ducati they won't know how to handle him. Dance! Pass the popcorn

Part of me really hopes he can out hustle it, get a bit Casey on it's ass. But mostly I agree, as it stands he's dropping 5 grid places and low siding it into every turn.

Fingers crossed Audi, that remarkable motorcycle manufacturer, can bring to bear some vorsprung dirk techbike to the party.

EDIT: But he had little choice.

Too slow unfortunately. Underachiever.

He falls off the sweet handling Yamaha way too much. Can't see this improving on the Ducati Sad
