The stresses through your back will be the same. It is not very different in terms of jumps etc from snowboarding.

May I suggest knitting as a passtime?

Not even the Warped persona would be mong enough to really believe that no-snow-boarding would be significantly different to snow-boarding.

You might want to run the next episode of Woe is Warped past a test audience first; this one reads like it was scripted by a guest writer who'd just skimmed the character back-story.

It doesn't sound that safe, but if you really want to do it you could ask 999kid for some tips on using spinal boards Wink

Mountain surfboarding could be another option, the length of board reduces the forces on your back to mere microjools, a force similar to that experience by a piano key!

Doctor tells you to avoid snowboarding because of back. Then you choose another hobby that is just as bad, if not worse for the back.

Freebording is where it's at if you want similar movement similar to snowboarding.

Also it's on concrete so definitely more comfortable and safer than falling on snow... MMmmmm lovely soft fluffy concrete!

You should try a different hobby that won't stress your back, maybe try sitting in a comfortable seat and telling lies on the internets.

How about "Jumping" you can jump off all sorts of things, Top of multi-storey car parks, Bridges, motorways, Aircraft, down cliffs, into pot holes. You don't need any equipment and if you land on your head it will save your back. Let us know how you get on.......... second thoughts, don't let us know.

Lead shoes would help as a floatation aid.

i mountain board what do you want to know ?.

Its harder than skateboarding heavy board with bigger wheels that respond badly to incorrect pressure. Its a hell of alot rougher than snowboarding especially on your knees and lower back. if you have back problems i honestly wouldn't bother it will end badly to much stress landing jumps and bouncing ruts.
It also hurts a shit load more when you bail as you dont have the fluffly white stuff to land on.

Don't bother with the ebay boards there usually all plastic wheel shite. Although there are a few gems out there look toward cheap kiteboards from flexi foil to get you into it. you can pick them up for under £70. There's a few decent boards that can handle light downhill runs get you used to the speed and teach you how to control the plank without breaking an ankle.

if you have a few £ to spend and want a brake the MBS colt is a good beginner deck or a few more £ can get you the comp 95x which is a decent board to start on. Anything from there and your better just customizing a board.

They don't build g-carts like they used to. No big pram wheels at the back, no tug along trolley wheels at the front, No 2x3" in sight. Kids today................ Pampered.
