Got it over the phone or internet you have distance selling in your favour, got it from the shop, then you have the not doing what you want it to do option, it is faulty and you want your money back, either way you take it back and tell them to do one.

They will say anything to hold you up so it goes past the time to actually get everything back.

Must admit the Samsung apps are a real joke. I wonder if anyone in the world uses them?

Anyway it's annoying but not necessarily the end of the world as I assume you have an SD card so any new apps can go on there.

As someone else has already said, you can root it and stick any kernel on it that you like and then the preloaded apps can be removed. I don't know the ins and outs of the process, but with a bit of online research you can learn what to do. My phone is rooted as I had to shift the firmware from vodafone to o2. Wasn't too difficult, but I haven't done much other stuff since then so I can't offer any advice about getting rid of the samsung apps, it's definitely possible though.

Also I'm pretty sure rooting the phone doesn't void the warranty either, if you have one. It's been designed as an open platform for development etc if you so desire. As long as you don't play with the hardware - the physical phone itself - you can do whatever you like to the software and it keeps its warranty. Small wiki info here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_rooting#Europe.

You tried to cancel, but they said no, so you accepted £30 as a goodwill gesture. Do you think you might have just bargained-away any rights to actually cancelling that contract?

Why will it void the warranty? Where does it say that?

I'll give you this link again.

Nothing resolute yet by the looks of things, but the case can be argued:

Quote:
The Free Software Foundation Europe argues that it is legal to root or flash any device. According to the European Directive 1999/44/CE, replacing the original operating system with another does not void the statutory warranty that covers the hardware of the device for two years unless the seller can prove that the modification caused the defect.

They are complete dicks, Ive had nearly two weeks of shit with them for what should have been an easy transaction. I took out a contract on a Tuesday night, paid %49 for the handset and sat back waiting for it to arrive.

Next day they phoned me on my current mobile, I missed the call as I was at work. They then rang my old house and asked if I lived there and then put it on hold becuse of security.

I was told on the Wednesday night there was no problem anymore and the phone was coming. It didnt arrive Thursday.

Spent 3 hours being passed between 7 separate idiots, none of whom I could understand, eventually to find out it wasnt coming, but would be here on Tuesday. Never came tuesday, so I rang them and cancelled. They called me yesterday to ask me when I wanted the phone delivered. Apparently it can take two weeks to cancel.

So yeah, nearly 2 weeks of idiocy, listening to unintelligible foreigners, being asked what my fucking phone number is even though I havent got one and Im still not clear of them.

They can suck a fat one, Ive given in and Im using GiffGaff instead of paying out £37 a month. Thumbs Up

I'm getting a phone call a day from one of the currants to ask why I'm not paying for the service they weren't providing. My dongle hasn't been used for almost 3 months, I've sent them several emails about the connection dropping and very slow speeds etc, but never had a response to any of them... and now they have no record of me emailing (should have sent a copy to my email address as proof.... but too late for that now).

They are a shit company that will do anything to get your money from you then not provide the service they promise... much like most

Seriously - how are they getting away with that?? These tariffs are double fucking dutch at the best of times. Like Skudd says, distance selling has got to be in your favour - not to mention about a billion other factors. However, and as someone else noted, taking that 30 quid ain't helping.

You need to sort your life out, if a mobile phone is worthy of your hate.

I have a 15 year old phone that still works and still does what it should do: rings and answers.

Maybe you should stop bending over and asking to be shafted if you don't like being shafted?

Hmm. Still not a great deal. Got an S3 (LTE version) with unlim. mins & texts for £24.80. Only 500MB internet but I'm on it all the time and never even come close to using it all. That's on Orange.

Just spoke to my missus who is also on three - she gets unlim. texts and internet and a stupid amount like 3000 minutes to any network, with an S3, for £27 a month.

Have you considered getting a bigger SD card? Or rooting the phone and installing a custom ROM without the bloat?
