They're so desperate to stop people selling stuff without them getting their cut They screen messages and stop anything with an email addy getting through and, to address peoples complaints that they like to send more photos to prospective bidders, they have allowed pics to be sent with messages. What they didn't think of was that you can take a photo of your email address ____________________ Space Is Deep

There is another way...
Once the deal is done, just agree with the buyer to 'cancel the transaction' through eBay. Thus, you can still leave feedback but the seller gets their fees back.
I do this on any auction over £50. Which equates to perhaps 20 or so this year already. As soon as they close that loophole, I stop using eBay. |

And why would a buyer agree to cancel a transaction and leave himself without any comeback if the seller turns out to be a cock? ____________________ "There's the horizon! Ride hard, ride fast and cut down all who stand in your way!"

It's a good place for buying things that'll come in handy.............even if you never use 'em.
I picked up a "Falcon Nibbler", (queue paintshop picture of man eating bird of prey), for a tenner last week....never even heard of 'em before eBay. Will I ever use it.........probably not now I've got one
Aye..............it all depends what you're buying/selling I guess. ____________________ Space Is Deep |

Nearly entirely stopped using ebay the past year for similar reasons. I've got an old pay as you go phone i rarely use which i used to just post the number of on the ad's and tell people to contact me via phone/text if they wanted me to avoid the buggering about with ebay messaging/filtering.
After factoring postage cost, fee's, chance of hassle and shit from buyer etc its barely ever worth flogging anything on there now days I find. For bike and car bits i've resorted to just going on specific-vehicle forums and trying to flog them there mostly |

You get charged to end listings now aswell, so once you've made a deal via ebay messages and go to close your listing they charge you (if you do it more than once per calendar month) crafty buggers. ____________________ 2012 KTM EXC 250

I'd rather just hand my wallet to pikeys than sell anything on eBay. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

I used to use ebay a lot. Used to regularly list cash only on collection for tastier items, and refuse all pleadings and moans about couriers and Billpoint (in days of yore before paypal), and do all right, but they kept moving the goalposts, to the point where it was almost impossible to list most items as cash only on collection.
Best ever score was some wargaming stuff, sold loads of it, one lot I paid £80 for in a real world auction and sold for £1,550.00
but the rot started to set in when they introduced the shops, oh and also templates, you needed to know just a basic bit of HTML once, the riff raff spoiled it too.
but all in all, I made a few quid back in the day |

^^ Were you on eBay when it started? I bet there were some good deals on there then - before dealers and collectors started to sweep all the items.
Best sale I had on there was probably a box of about 500 vintage postcards that I pulled out of a skip when doing a house clearance - They were all 19th century and I listed them individually. Only about 30 didn't sell and some fetched £20 and up.
Another one was when I sold a punk rock memorabilia collection for a mate of mine. She had hundreds of original badges and some went for quite a bit considering. A lot of them went to Japan in the end. Also got £130 for a ticket stub from when Bob Marley played the London Lyceum. ____________________ Space Is Deep |
