As with Mod1 the important thing is to relax. Try to treat it like a normal ride, but with someone giving you directions. Tips:
Slightly move your mirrors so it's obvious that you're using them
Before you move the handle bars do a life saver - can't fail for too many
Check you've cancelled your indicators
If you take a wrong turn, or find yourself in the wrong lane, just carry on, don't try to correct. The examiner will put you right
What helped for me was to do a running commentary as I was riding, as though I was explaining every move and thought.
Oh, and finally, enjoy it Thumbs Up

As above, also remember that taking a wrong turn at a junction or roundabout is not a minor it anything Thumbs Up so if you go the complete wrong way dont panick because it doesn't matter

Yeah, on the 'independant riding' I ended up going really wrong.. like literally the complete wrong way.

As long as you ride the correct way the chances are you'll be ok, obviously try and go the right way Laughing Just saying incase you don't, don't feel as though you've fucked up and failed just carry on riding proper Thumbs Up

Relax, treat the tester as a satnav talking in your ears.

Don't filter - more time spent stopped in a queue, the less time to mess up.

Don't follow buses too closely! I missed a speed limit change following one; someone else on here had trouble also caused by bus following. Also, if you're a bit back and they do pull in to a stop, you can see past easily to go around them.

Go with a good attitude - seems they look for maturity above IThinkI'mARidingGod and a sensible attitude may see you pass with soemthing that could have failed you (worked for me Wink ).

Just keep calm and treat it like a normal ride really [a safe one of course Wink

Keep an eye on your speed particularly in 30's were its easy to get distracted monitoring side-roads etc and suddenly end up going over, and if you do stall or go the wrong way, don't panic. Just get going again and in the right direction when you can - and don't let doing this distract you from the observations - so long as you get going in reasonable time again and in a safe manner you should be fine Thumbs Up

Good luck

Make sure any errors following directions are done safely, as in if the examiner had asked you to go that way that is how you would have done it.

On mine, I was told to "turn left" as I started to signal he repeated "at the roundabout, turn left" clearly his microphone malfunctioned. I completed the turn swiftly but he missed it as the road we were on was one-way. He suggested some options over the radio but I was out of his view for a few minutes - he was clearly pleased to see me emerge having waited for three cars reversing onto the roundabout to escape a traffic warden

Is speeding much of a problem on mod 2? I got 3 minors for speeding and that's it.

Anyway, good luck and try not to over concentrate as that is why I got the minors (to much looking at what's around me and hardly any looking at the speedo/instrument panel)

Try to relax and enjoy it, a bit of friendly banter with the examiner always works well - confidence and maturity.

Its easier to get away with it than your car test, purely because they can't see your speedo!

However, I would ride like they can see (just incase).

Don't worry about getting ahead of the examiner, they will catch up, or will ask you to pull over and wait.

The hardest part I found was understanding his bloody accent, he was Scottish I think, the independent riding was terrible until I saw a sign and hoped that is what he had said to follow!

Also, remember that it doesn't end until you have the bike turned off. Heard of a few people failing right at the end thinking it won't matter.

Good luck!

Sod that, you're on test until you have the certificate in your hand.

If you come across as a complete arse in the questioning bit whilst he's filling out your sheet, I'm sure he'd be able to "remember" enough events to fail you.

Make sure your eyes are up to spec. I swear I almost failed it at the eyesight test due to nervousness and dirty glasses messing up my vision. Imagine how downright gutting that would have been, all that work and waiting for hours and etc undone by something silly like that Laughing

The test itself is pretty quick. It felt like just 10 minutes to me when it was in fact 45. Guess time flows quickly when you're highly strung.

Update:

Passed it - just. 3 minors and nearly got a fail, the instructed had to inform me that the road was a NSL not a 30 zone - right T the beginning too and thought 'ah fuck it I've failed anyway' so was much more relaxed.

Never been so happy to hear the words 'I'm pleased to tell you...'

Cheers for the advice - it helped a lot Smile
