Got bored about 30 mins ago so I thought I would buy some chips (as you do) so I started up the engine let it warm up, took about 5 minutes. Got all my kit on, even if it was a trip into town, better safe than sorry eh.

So I got on it and went up the road, but then I had this urge to go on a little ride as my engine was being a little more responsive than usual. So I went out of town and onto the the country lanes, now this *was* fun. It was like being on one of those rally games at night, even going 40MPH felt like 100MPH, with all of the hedges rushing past you, a lot of the time it was luck that I got round the corners. I felt so great on this bike, I couldn't give two monkeys if this bike was gonna breakdown on me, going over the smooth crests and then dipping into some sweeping narrow corners at 30, was awesome!, I finally got back on the main road and headed back into town, of which I made a brand new top speed of 59MPH (indicated) so I was dead happy, but I still need to get to 60, before this machine gives up.

As much as I hate this bike, sometimes it doesn't matter because blasting through lanes like that is what shows you that life was worth living. I went into the chip shop with a great big grin on my face. At winter this is quite a rare occurant.

Does anybody else think I deserve to have my first off soon, as I am becoming way too complacent, blasting through country lanes at near freezing temperatures? Laughing

Done. Thumbs Up

I did a 65 mile ride today, mainly through all the lanes and it was the dog's Thumbs Up . Apart from some twat who overtook me at about 100mph down some lane and nearly took me out Middle Finger . I love riding through lanes around here cos I seem to find places I've never seen just suddenly appear.

Glad you had fun Very Happy .

2-stroke, foggy humid night, high air density = lots more power.

Flying by the seat of your pants, that's what it is all about.

My only comment would be to practice reading corners a bit more, rely less on luck. I for one always like to know where I am going Wink

Enjoy.

Try judging corners ahead of you when you have absolutely crap headlights. Laughing

You lights will be 100 times better than the single beam, 6v, 25w tungsten filament bulb that was fitted to my last moped...think a tiny bit brighter than a flasher bulb (21w) and you are somewhere close Shocked

Nobody deserves to have a first off, but I would be careful. I'm not driving my scooter in the winter this year as it wheelspins in the wet! I did last year and didn't come off once which was pretty lucky. Only problem I had was carb icing on the really cold days as I had a big open filter on. Stalled at 70mph twice on a pitch black dual carriage way Mr. Green

On my MT50 I always thought I was going faster at night. Must be because you can't see your speedo!

Pah who cares, when I bought the bike, I was told it was "restricted" I don't really think it is... Laughing

I think I might have found out why the engine is performing better. Does anyone reckon it is early enough for the engine to blow up? I have done 15,000 miles and when I got back from my mates house earlier, it smelt like something was burning realy bad in the engine department. I will take a look in the morning. Smile

That is why he said an indicated 59mph you nugget, Jon is a very intelligent lad and he for sure knows that indicated speed is not accurate. Rolling Eyes

15,000 seems a bit of low milege to be honest. Unless you have been riding it really hard, i'd say you still have another 10,000 miles left in it Laughing

erm well i doubt it will be more than a tenner for rings, and when you add up postage from germany etc etc, mind you at your milage i would get a whole piston kit!

you could use scooter centre as they are a lot easier to set up an account with and same price, also deliver within 2-3 days in my experience! very good!

www.scooter-centre.com

tom

ps. scooter attack is only german language at the moment

Peds are still plenty fun especially if you know the right roads. It's in conditions like these i wish i had me 2 stroke back. Jon, try www.ve-uk.com if you haven't done so already or www.scooterzonetuning.co.uk for parts. Glad to know you had a good day!

mmmm scooters!

Nothing wrong with ya Scratcher, I'm back on my areox 100 again, and once the cobwebs had been swept away after 3 months of barely using it, I'm loving it once more!

Obviously it's no match for the (broken) Fazer that sits next to it in the garage, but it's great fun zipping through the traffic on it, and whizzing around corners at death-defying speeds! The great thing is, with the dodgy speedo, you're unlikely to ever be caught speeding, even when you are trying!
