I'd go for a VanVan (Suzuki rv125), just because I like their chunky ugliness.

CG. Cheap, bulletproof, will not lose too much value after 2 years of use. Still, boring and ugly as fuck.

I might just go for a Chinese because I'm a glutton for punishment, like oddities, and am learning my way around bikes enough that it would be a good challenge to keep one running for 2 years.

Failing that, a Varadero, good quality, bigger physical bike.

CBF or YBR, seem to be pretty decent 4 stroke 125s. Will easily run for another 2 years.

I went for a yzf 125, in heinsight i would of gone for an honda xr125 or yamaha xt125 probably to of spiced up the 2 years on a 125 with a bit of green laning and such, as it was never an option on the YZF and certainly isnt on my ZX6 now :lol

Plus much simpler to do servicing and cleaning on that the faired bikes if you're a beginner Thumbs Up

Downsides is if you don't have a garage or somewhere really secure to keep it it'll probably get nicked by chavs in the first 24 hours Hurt

Or the naked version:

Why?

Just look at it!

Honda Varadero.

It is one of the few 125s that is big enough for me.
Seat height of 802mm is taller than my Bandit 650
or ZZ-R1100.

If you don't think looks of the bike are that important, CG125, GS125, GN125 etc.

Those sort of bikes, built by the more reputable companies with experience and plenty of spares around will last for ever. I had a 1983 GS125 and it would still be going if I had kept it topped up with oil and done basic maintenance. I had it for over a year and did almost nothing apart from put fuel in it and cleaned it once. I did adjust the chain a few times but that is it.

If you get a CBR125 or a Rieju, you will be cleaning it forever, bits of plastic will break and it will cost lots when something goes wrong.

I was thinking that does look really nice, for the standard 1 grand cost of a little chinese 125, it would of tempted by younger self even being chinese.

Verydearo, maybe. Or vanvan. I also like the Sinnis Trackstar, the Yamaha TW125, and the Hartford HD125. The Honda City Fly CLR125 is sweet too.

Yamaha YZF-R125, just because its a braw looking bike. I kinda fancy it Embarassed , Kinda love my CBF though. Only reason I went for the CBF is I cannot lift the YZF, too heavy for me if I was to drop it, CBF I can lift that quite easy.

Yamaha dt125

As someone with one, never trust the oil pump, mine failed and blew my bottom end, running premix now. Cool

I have the older one though, a 1997 soon to be SM'd with the exact wheels and forks from the one in the picture. (a DTX)

Back on topic, I don't know. I really like my 2 smokers. Probably a CG125 for reliability.

To be fair for a 125 they are great bikes, i did love having mine - but totally can't justify the cost and rate they devalue unless you're loaded, or young and naive enough to spend on a bike you dont realise you probably wont want after a couple of years - as i was Whistle
