 |
|
hello peeps,
fell in love with my honda cg 125 1993 at first sight, as you do when you fall in love, you never notice the negatives. At the minute I'm trying to it get it to pass an MOT and have really struggled to get it anywhere close.
The main things that I've kinda prioritised in a really dysfunctional manner are the engine casing has a mini-hole and small amounts of oil has leaked, the hole happened when took out the clutch plates and cleaned them. it's small, i'm just glad it wasn't there when I bought it. I'm planning on using locktite liquid metal and sealing that. same with the cylinder head (maybe - most likely buy a new head). those two are my main concerns, but are being put to the back to the "working" list.
lots of small things to buy like tank bushers and washers here an there.
I'm hoping to go for a chopper-type look. I've made a custom seat from the back end of a 1992 honda cg seat, fits nicely and looks alright too(pics soon hopefully), tmorrow I'm chopping the back end just before the handling bars start; getting rid of the original seat holder and back electric brackets.
today, i noticed that the centre stand is in dire condition; the back brake lever when pressed causes the whole stand to move and the pivot pin is actually rusted into the stand itself. So, I went out an bought myself an angle grinder and took it off, by cutting the pin and hammering it out. I noticed that the actual frame holes for the pivot pin have been worn an increased the hole size. this leaves me with the issue in question
do i get another centre stand + pivot pin and have the back brake lever do the exact same thing when used.
or
do i forget the whole centre stand and buy those side-stands going on ebay that have the footpeg bar with mount and side stand.
if i buy the footpeg bar side stand combo, it faces me a challenge of finding a home for the back brake lever, incase i've not been clear(this happens to me a lot!) the back brake lever sits on the pivot pin of the centre stand.
what would you guys do? i need you lot right now, im counting on it . |

Same problem with my h100 stands, I try and keep these parts well lubed!
For the play in the pivot, a sleeve could be made up from a beer can or coca cola can etc to take up the excess play. Also weld a strip of metal to the end of the centre stand pin and bolt it to one of the footrest bolts to stop the pin from turning and reducing wear ____________________ Honda H100S2 Rebuild - https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=253852 |

I chopped the back end off today and looked at fitting the brake lever support, the pipe fits nicely but i'm just waiting for the paint to dry so i can fit it. the bike wont start, died on me, complete git. the spark plug is really wet, i can't remember what i need to change to compensate the mixture rate. will check a manual later.
uploaded some pics so you can laugh at me, lol. i love it though .

 |

after prancing around, I'm finally in a better position to do more work to the bike; cleaning up the frame and replacing or investigating the head.
what's really good for removing rust?
to get an idea of the rust i'm dealing with:
