For carrying my eggs and cheeses etc, could I power one of those miniature fridges off my 650?

Like this one: https://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/2705671.htm#pdpFullProductInformation

Encase you fancy a spot of wine and some cheese smelling on the way to work?

*edit - but yes, I believe that would work fine if you've got a cigarette lighter hooked up to your bike battery.. would check the fuses are sufficient first!

Is this to go with your 7.1 surround soundspeaker system as you ride slowly around all those track days you go to?

if it is 12v then yeah, sure. Mounting would be a bit of an issue too, and you would look stoopid.

I was thinking it could fit in a topbox somehow..

Do you know how much those things use? Your alternator will more than likely shit itself, even on a car with a 100amp alternator they draw shit loads.

And we can't possibly answer the question given the information at hand. 650? 650 what?

It matters not what cc your bike is. What matters is what the excess charging capacity of your bike is. Some bikes have very little excess charging capacity. Some bikes have a lot.

You need to calculate what your excess charging capacity is and that see how many watts whatever appliance you're thinking of running will draw.

+1
Some of those coolers only cool down to 18'C below outside abient temp. The more expensive ones will cool down to 30'C below. But by then the alternator will have crapped out

Claims to be 40 watts. So 3 amps.

Of course, that means it's going to have barely any cooling capability. It's basically just a cool box.
And, as I was suggesting earlier - eggs aren't kept chilled in the supermarket, so you have to wonder why people target them for refrigeration Smile.

Eggs coated with lard will last 4 months at room temperature. Get a big enough block of cheese and you can just cut the mouldy bits off, or cut the cheese into bits and coat them with wax.

Or given that, like there's a rat within 10ft of every human, there's a Tesco Extra within a mile of every house, buy your eggs and cheese at the destination.

You're meant to store eggs in vinegar, not in a fridge.

Did you use frozen blocks in the cool bag? Even a frozen bottle of water will take a while to defrost. We've had a cool bag with frozen blocks in it and the blocks were still mostly frozen after a day in the car, in hot weather.

Surely there is no one in this country that lives so far away from a shop that their eggs and cheese go off before they get back home...?

If such a person does exist then they certainly won't have internet access.
