Hi
Can anyone suggest a pair of gloves that are going to be hard wearing and not break the bank?
My current pair of track-tech RST's haven't lasted too well. The stitching has come apart in several places (I have crashed a few times in them but never at a fast speed, and they've never had prolonged contact with tarmac). I've had them about 8 months at a guess, maybe 7k miles?
Here is where they've come apart:
https://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/y459/nark_square/CD0E3970-CD76-4557-BCDF-9602C119FC15-1656-000001C04ED93C7C_zps07af7f6e.jpg
I want a race-type, single skinned summer glove.
Budget up to £70, I guess.
For commuting and pit bike racing duties. |

Spada Predator, imo. £50
https://www.ashleyfashion.net/pic/29/spada-predator-motorcycle-black-white-leather-gloves-xl.jpg
Had them 6 months or so now. Comfy, look good, crashed at Silverstone in them last month and they're just a bit scuffed on the palms and have a rouged up wrist strap buckle. you can get them in black I think if you don't want tarty white The beige palms on my white gloves does look a bit grubby now.
I seem to be the destroyer of gloves, mine end up like yours look. I've gone through a fair few of winter and summer gloves and Spada are the only gloves that have ever held it together. I've got a pair Spada Enforcers as winter gloves and they are also well made. |

I tend to be hard on gloves too.
Best gloves I ever had were the Frank Thomas R series. Bloody good glove and lasted forever - and I hate FT stuff normally.
Currently rocking some Merlin (rebadged FT I'm told) which seem well made and holding up well. ____________________ NSR125RR - ZXR750H1 - ZX9R E1 - GSF600S - GSF600SK3 - VFR400-NC30 - SV1000N - ST1100-R - CBR900RR-R - GSF1200SK5 - GSF600SK1 - VFR1200FA - GSXR1000K2 - ZZR1400 D8F

Looking at the pic and where they have failed. You are buying gloves that are too small for your hands. ____________________ Just because my bike was A DIVVY, does not mean i am...... |

My best mates had a pair of RSTs very similar to those for years and they look fine, i'd wonder if it was maybe from your off's that they've ended up getting in that condition on way or another, but maybe not
Best gloves i've ever had [for summer riding only] Alpinestars GP-PRO's
https://www.bulldogpowersports.com/files/2249523/uploaded/Alpinestars_GP_Pro_Gloves_Blue_zoom.jpg
Not really sure if they're as much use as they look, but felt very safe in them - had a wrist guard and the smaller outer-fingers stitched together to discourage them snapping or something to that effect i think was the write-up.
New they're a lot more than your budget but you can probably get a second hand pair just about. If not generally similar alpinestars gloves i've had are all really good quality.
For winter/wet weather gloves i use spada enforcers, can get a pair of thermal inner gloves in them too which have kept my hands warm [without heated grips] in down to -5 temps so far. Also have a handy little plastic-tab 'wipe' on the side of the left glove for clearing the visor which can be handy at times.

Not sure what the current price is, but I have a pair of Alpinestars SP1's that I've had for a number of years, and they're still going strong.... ____________________ 1st bike (Sept'06 - May'10) : 1991 GPZ500S / Current bike (since Nov 2009) : 2003 Suzuki Bandit 600N

No. My GP+ gloves have done slightly more miles than OP's and look only a little better.
My older SP2s were noticeably better constructed, for less money. ____________________ Triumph Daytona 675 track bike + girlfriend's Honda Hornet 600

Even the Aldi gloves I have don't look as bad as that, and mine are a year old. ____________________ it is impossible to lick your own elbow...
