Police say no other vehicles were involved, but if you ever rode around there you would definitely have had a car drive straight out of a side road without looking. Unforced error or some blind bastard in a silver Nissan?

A 10 year old on the back of a bike at 1.50am, how times change, should be in bed and safe by 8pm.

Well, that would count as "severely injured".

Early morning, no other vehicles, I'm going to go ahead and assume some combination of Certain Substances, unlicensed, uninsured, unhelmeted, uncompliant with speed or road signs and/or TWOCed.

So sure, let's throw a minimum pillion age into that mix in ... 2... 1...

Eh, "Juan Foreigner" was implicit in my list above.

Bit sad for the kid though. Sad

What's wrong with that?
If the child mentioned above was a year older would it still be alive?

Of course not...

I'm just suprised how young the kids can be, especially in such a vulnerable environment.

Even if they introduced a minimum age on pillions, it's hard to get a child's age if they lie about it and bump it up. As long as the age required isn't too dramatic they can get away with it.

Dad always got me in banger racing etc by saying I was younger than I was, I just went with it. They could never prove otherwise anyway. Wink

Just to clarify: My dad would knock my age down to get money off the tickets, so I'd go in as a child rather than a teenager. Laughing Or sneak in when they aren't looking, or arrive a little later and come through the mechanic pits. Laughing Good olden days.

The traffic is predictable, to a point.

Get back to me when you have a few miles under your belt and your spidey sense kicks in.

Right now, any opinions you have on the dangers or riding a motorbike are worthless.

Right, because that's the most dangerous situation the child has ever been in... ever. Rolling Eyes

You sound like one of the health and safety fannies that banned kids from playing proper rugby in favour of 'touch rugby'.

Probably one of the most dangerous a parent can voluntarily put them in, wouldn't you say?

Seems everyone has a bit of a chip on their shoulder about this topic!

Not in the slightest.

I just wanted to point out that you have little, if any, riding experience yet you thought it was a good idea to throw an opinion out there based on SFA.

Very incorrect actually.

Since when has a motorbike been dangerous?
