Hello,

My 125 makes a whistling sound when reved which is not very loud and seems to come from the back area or gear box. it happens when the bike is in gear.

it happens mostly on 3rd and 4th gear. for instance when revving up can hear something going vooo vooooooo vooooooo as if the vo is representing the engine rev going up Smile

any help on what it can be is much appreciated

is the whistling noise not just the noise of air through the air filter?

more revs = more air m'kay

Could be your power band slipping.

chain is fine and no haven't tried it on stand only but will give it a try

yes it is mostly noticable on 3rd gear even with helmet and the traffic noise so something is wrong.

could it be wheel bearing ?

now I have owned the bike for over a year.

I did put it on stand and no noise nothing at all even in 3rd gear 5-6 k which is when the noise is the most.

would it be the wheel bearing ?

I should say that most of the time I think I have overtighten the axle nut so maybe that has put the bearing under pressure?

I know, let's just offer lots of random suggestions, none of which OP will be able to interpret.

So, my purely speculative guess would be clutch basket rattle.
