I think that makes at least 7 bikers killed this year or even just in the last couple of months. Blah.

Ride safe.

It's summer, we die like flies.

I'll have "unlicensed Pole in a Dutch registered wagon operating out of Northern Spain" in the Daily Mail Wheel-O-Blame Sweepstake.

In other news, I managed yet another daily commute without being deaded. Maybe it's because I'm not in Hampshire.

+1
Live in hants, avoid the m3 and m27 like plague.
If heading north towards london, use the backroads and A31, seems just as quick on the bike, and more fun.

The bottom end of the M3 in Hampshire seems to attract idiots. 2 lane motorway which is constantly full in lane 2 with a stream of cars going nowhere in a hurry.

Same story in North Yorks, but they are mischievous with the reporting.

To make it sound worse they go on about how only 2 died last year but don't mention that was the lowest for years.
(e.g. 2010 there were 20 - https://www.northyorkshire.police.uk/6985 )

Also they keep implying there is evidence of racing between Stokesley and Helmsley "Using Pay and Display parking tickets" to prove the times.
That would be a clever trick when Stokesley does not even have Pay and Display - it's those disc things and free.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-york-north-yorkshire-23714505

Quote:
"Seven out of 10 motorcycle deaths are down to driver error, and a proportion of that is down to speed."

So not that many down to speeding at all but lets make the article sound like it's all their fault for going too fast.

Not to say it isn't a terrible statistic, but an agenda is at work to misrepresent reality, and it makes articles like that seem biased and mischievous.

See pretty much every "Safety Camera", ever.

Low year, high year, camera, regression to the mean, "performance" bonuses all round, chaps. Dance!

Not wanting to bore anyone but the gent has been named:

https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/10617640.Biker_killed_in_fatal_crash_is_named_by_police/?ref=mr

and for further reading, Tony Kenward, chairman of Southampton and District Motorcycle Club says it is a “50/50 split” between cars and motorcycles causing accidents.

https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/10619415.Are__born_again__bikers_to_blame_for_motorcycle_deaths_/?ref=mr

hmm, that statement is a bit too simplistic for my liking...

I live in Southampton, ride a motorcycle regularly all year round (sometimes fast Surprised ) and am still alive. However I will agree that we have our share of idiot car/van drivers AND idiot bikers with lots of balls and no skill. Ride for the conditions and within your ability! Too many people don't.

tl;dr: Ride Safe
