And it's great! My slow riding and bite point need work but I'm sure it'll improve as I get out more. But overall dead chuffed ____________________ zzr600 |

I was like that when I first got on my ZZR600
Careful putting the side stand down, I knocked mine into gear a few times by accident as my previous bike's stand was kicked down from behind the foot peg, not between the peg and gear lever. ____________________ Looking to pass your CBT / Bike tests in Bury Lancashire? try www.focusridertraining.co.uk Would recommend.

Just incase you're mistaken, those crash bungs will be next to useless. Wouldn't want you to drop it and be angry that they didn't do their job.
Enjoy the new bike. |

Coming up to 22k miles so not too bad. On a 99 plate. Got lots of mot and tax so hopefully shouldn't need to spend out on it too much in the next 12 months. Stock seems to work for the bike so far so don't fix what isn't broke and all that ____________________ zzr600 |

Nice
The colours got a bit more sensible later in the range.
My favourite is the purple and orange colour scheme , so bad it was almost good.

I'm at work now so will go look at tea time and see if i can trace it. By the time I noticed it on the floor I'd moved the bike etc
Really didn't wanna start stripping the bike on the 2nd day not like the dealership is on my doorstep either. I'm buying a new bike next time ____________________ zzr600 |

Any chance it was just from an over-oiled chain? Maybe the Scottoiler is incontinent. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Heh, I'd updated my post without reading your update, honest.
It's possibly that it blew its load on the chain during your ride, then flung it off at the front sprocket.
When I over-oil, I tend to get dripping there. Doing a bit of pondering, the centrifugal fling off of the chain will be higher at the front than the rear. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

My guess would be from the chain also.
Consider stopping your bike. A few drops of oil drop from the front sprocket cover, which have gathered up from your chain, and fall on to the floor. You then wheel back the bike a little bit.
The oil drops then look more sinister as your mind jumps towards a split engine casing, leaking oil pipe or whatever other crazy ideas that your mind can come up with as the drops are towards the front of the bike. When in reality it's just an over-loved chain.
If oil has been dropping on your chain overnight but not fallen, you could have had a large lump of oil just sitting there. When you rode off in the morning it could have flung on to the floor when you pulled forwards, so as to be underneath where your engine normally sits.
Give everything a good look over, you may as well, but oil from the chain is a likely cause ____________________ 2004 R1 & 2018 XSR900 |

mine drips a bit of oil when cooling down if parked on the centre stand, it's from the clutch cover side, believed to be from a stripped thread on one of the bolts.
I tend to park it on the side stand except when fueling (just more comfortable filling on centre) and I've yet to have it drip during a fuel stop. ____________________ Looking to pass your CBT / Bike tests in Bury Lancashire? try www.focusridertraining.co.uk Would recommend.

My recently picked ZZR400N, essentially the same as the ZZ600E but with a sleeved down engine and euro clocks. She's struggling to get used to it TBH, not getting on well with the hunched over race position, especially as she's very short.
Regarding the bobbins, can echo what has been said, those screw into the fairing are very small, and will just snap if you drop it, causing you no end of grief. I put on some R&G bobbins, little bit of a faff as you have to drill a big hole into the lower fairing, so they can pass through into the frame. The bolts for the bobbins will then replace the engine bolts. Some more info and pictures here on fitting the bobbins to the ZZR here. ____________________ Beginner Biker Adventures Blog

Ah I do love my zzr6 but don't expect it to last forever. Mine threw 5th gear out the other week. same day it hit 50k miles.
Still, runs sweet as a nut though. Can't justify a rebuild, was too cheap to buy in the first place.
Enjoy it for what it is. A cheap mile eater. ____________________ KAWASAKIIIII |
