Hi,

After having a ride on the back of my mates GSX-F i've gotten the bug for bikes!

I'm 21 work as a mechanic and been driving for the last 3 years.

Done my cbt last week and got on really well!

Speaking to the training school and my friend i've decided the best way to go is to do my full a2 licence and get a restricted bike for my first as a 125 would get too boring very quickly if I was to wait till i'm 24 to do Direct access.

Unfortunately I understand this means i have to take two tests but hopefully thats not so bad as i should have my own bike to lower the price and will make me drop bad habits after 2-3years on a restricted bike

I'm just looking for some advise on the kind of bikes to look at in the mid range of 600ccs that can be restricted for the new A2 Licence.

I keep coming back to an SV650s but my friend hated the snappy throttle so its kind of put me off so looking for alternatives to consider for when I do get one next year. Early but nothing wrong with preparation!

Congrats on just getting on with it, rather than the dithering that often comes up on here. the tests are all the same irrespective of what size bike you take them on, they're called the MOD1 (off road) and MOD2 (on road) By taking them now, you'll be able to take your full A license when you're 23 rather than waiting till you're 24. Oh, and you'll also need to take your theory again.

Definately best to get on with it, being restricted a good stepping stone to ease the learning curve I found rather than diving from CBT to DAS to unrestricted rocket Razz

I'd try one [when its possible to of course] before discarding them, the majority of throttle is in the riders control, i've never found any bike i've been on 'jumpy' or 'snappy', some take a bit more caution in slow town traffic etc, but given attention and consideration its easily controllable if you give it a bit of thought instead of ringing its neck Wink

I meant for his A2, rather than for the further tests, probably should have spelt it out clearer.

Then you thought wrong. You need to complete a theory test for each new category.

I personally think it's pointless. But then again I think that the theory test in its present state is also pointless, as it teaches little and it's just like a game to complete.

So i'll need to do a theory for A2 then again in two years for my Full A? Pointless i'll have done 3 theory test then 2 of the exact same!
