Quick question, should it start so easily?!

Hi all,

My DT 125 (once warmed) will start just by pushing down on the kick start by hand...Should it be so easily? I'm worried there's a lack of compression.

It also is a bitch to start cold, again...lack of compression?

Or...Is that just how they are, I've never owned a 'proper' two stroke before.

had an ar125 that was like that, as for compression, do a compression test while hot and cold with thorrtle wide open for both. compare to manual specs

Tried everything and couldn't get my tester to fit, even took the tank off! Set up the powervalve properly though and had a look at the rings through the exhaust port. They look worn to me anyway so gonna change them to be on the safe side.

Do rings need running in?

yes rings do need to bed in, but the barrel might well be worn.
A garage will compression test it for you
