The sort of person who bought a white one is the sort of person who will have joined their local IAM group and been anal with the servicing.
If you're going to spend money on it. Spend it on the brakes.
You're not going to know what's hit you after riding a divvy. Just so as you know, it's called acceleration. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

I'd like that back actually!
Agree with Stinkwheel. Spend on the brakes. They were a bit crap. The engine, on the other hand, was sublime. I've ridden many newer bikes, but never anything smoother.
And the handling was on par with most 90's 750cc sportsbikes. Very capable all round.

Rode one for a while, they're not slow. For a bike of their era they're actually bloody good all round... cept the brakes they weren't too hot |

What are your plans for that OP?
That's the exact bike I went out to buy myself as a 21st birthday present, in 1986; couldn't get a white one (that was the colour to have and everyone was sold out) and the other choice was doom blue, so I ended up with an XJ900 instead.
I could be tempted to take that off your hands and find out what might have been. ____________________ Things get better with age; I'm close to being magnificent........

My 94 with Phil's 97, same bike bar the years but his feels a hell of a lot more involving to ride with sorted suspension and lowered clip ons.
The brakes even when sorted with braided hoses, new seals and HH pads still aren't all that but are acceptable for road use, will go for the pretec six pots as Stink suggested to me months ago some day (getting a bit bored of it at present and feeling the bug to make some alterations) ____________________ Current: 02 FZS 1000 & 51 Moto Guzzi California Some Bike Pics...

Thanks for picture Moxey.
You just confirmed to me that matt black IS, in-fact, the correct colour to have my new plastics and tank painted.
I knew this but I was feeling bad about doing it to brand new plastics. These bikes do look great matt black.
EDIT: Oh, I should mention, a 60 section front tyre makes it a different bike. Slightly twitchier but in terms of overall FUN, it's better to have to pull it up out of a corner than force it down into one. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. had no plans to butcher this in any way, few times ive ridden it ive allowed it to warm up properly and ridden it gently to start.
Had my full throttle fun on the 2 zxr's i owned but now im looking for something i can use to ride that has a bit more poke.
Not liking it too much though as its a bit too small for me and even worse when you stick a pillion on it. ____________________ GOOD GAME BODYGUARD: https://i.imgur.com/8WePGgf.jpg

WSB didn't exist when these things came out, and the equivalent was F1, which no standard roadbike would stand a chance in, being that most of the bikes in there were borderline prototypes. |
Fred Merkel and Wayne Rainey ran them in the 86 AMA championship, for Superbike and F1, both were multiple winners.
Rocket Ron got on the podium in the Transatlantic Trophy with a bone stocker, but it was raining, which obviously helped. ____________________ Things get better with age; I'm close to being magnificent........
